Locate a bit far in Soi Ruamruedee if you want to walk to the nearest BTS. However with this price & location that is still close enough, it's still very good value. Seem that many long stay business people stay here. Not much to do around nearby lodge, but it's a good quite location & ok room.

Jim´s Lodge - Recomended

Jim´s Lodge proved to be a cheap and cheerful alternative to my usual hotel in Bangkok. A little bit off the beaten track, but that did not prove to be a problem.

As a frequent traveller one can get tired with all the 5star Iso certified shiny and marbled hotels:
Certified friendliness
Certified services
Perfect rooms without patina
...but no soul.
Different with Jim´s Lodge - no big luxus, the charm of the 70ies leave an atmosphere of yesterday - bathrooms a little narrow - but the overall atmosphere, the people and their certain charm to make a visitor welcome is that what I personally love - and after all it helps to keep your travel budget low - the prices for that prime location are unbeatable. The location is a plus too: though away from the hustles and bustles of BKK which gives you some breathing spaces even if you walk around the area, you are in no time (near BTS train station Ploen Chit) at the lively spots of BKK if you want and like it. For the individual traveller who is not dependent on a luxorious stay the right choice (and just forgive if not everything is perfect - with friedliness you finally achieve service beyond standard). This place (if I do not have to host conferences etc.) will always be my first option when in BKK!
