My girlfriend and I stayed at the Landmark in Nov 04. The hotel is a very nice hotel with nice fittings and a good service. Obviously, it is quite 'commercial' like a lot of hotels in Bangkok. The room was a typical 4-5* room with mini bar and a few snacks etc. Conveniently located for the metro, station about 3 mins walk away. Yes, there is a seedy'ish area around the corner from the hotel, but unless you looked you would not find it. To be honest, my girlfriend and I checked it out anyway just to see what was going on.....why go to Bangkok and not see what all the fuss is about? The breakfast was quite expensive for Bangkok. Staff were friendly. For those from the UK, I can only describe this hotel as any slightly upmarket hotel in London for instance, quite impersonal but run efficiently. Would probably say the Landmark in London is very similar. Would recommend if you wanted a place to stop off at while en-route to Phuket....2 or 3 days in Bangkok is enough for anyone! One thing I would definately do while in Bangkok, is take the day trip to Bridge over the River Kwai, a long but unmissable day out from Bangkok.
