i like the hotel so much - nice staff, everything is clean and very cheap, swimming pool

I've come here each year (for 6 months at a time) for the last 20 years. I love it: the staff are wonderful. But the Coffee House menu could do with an upgrade, although there are good meals to be had at local restaurants. However, beware the internet. It's so called High Speed is Dead Slow!

The shower water sometimes cold sometimes hot.

Very comfortable, great location and value for money. Would stay again.

This place is very convenient as its near all the major shopping attractions. In fact, the suam lum night bazaar is just opposite the road.

For the budget Gay traveller this is a great hotel with on site cafe open 24 hours, internet, swimming pool and short distance to all the fun areas of Silom and Suriwong roads.

I am never paying for a Hotel in Silom any more. This is all you need. 24 hour restaurant so convenient if you return or are leaving at an odd hour. Room service quick, good food and excellent choice on menu.Only 40 baht to silom in taxi and convenient 7/11 opposite open 24 hours. Room spacious, clean and bed so comfortable. Will return to this Hotel any time I am in Bangkok. Air conitioning system easy to use, quiet and efficient. I am trying to think of one thing I did not like about this Hotel but I cannot.

This was the first time I stayed here and I didn't know what to expect for such an inexpensive hotel; however everything was better then my expectations. Malaysia Hotel is so close (walking Distance to many restaurants, Babalon Sauna, and a short Taxi to Silom Rd) so you don't need to stay at an expensive hotel on Silom rd as I used to untill I found Hotel Malaysia!!!

The reception staff could not do enough for me, the bell boys extremely courteous and frindly and the rooms were clean and good size. Will come again and again, best hotel in Bangkok

For the price 766THB unbeatable value. Reception very friendly and helpful. Rooms worn but clean and bathtub with hot water! Disappointed with restaurant, expensive and not as good as in some reviews. Avoid the ripp-off hotel taxi sharks. The rampant gay scene need not disturb.
Chose this hotel as near to German Embassy, otherwise the location is not paticularly interesting.

the location is not convenient for tourists.

The hotel was comfortable without being spectacular. The rooms definitely needed to be brought up to date though as some of the decor and fixtures were pretty tired. The main negative was that the sound proofing was terrible - annoying at night as you're next to a fairly busy road. On the whole though you pretty much get what you pay for and it certainly won't be the worst hotel you'll stay in.

The hotel is value for money and the staffs are friendly with a passion to serve. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay there, and are looking forward to going back to the same hotel. However the service provided by Malai restaurant wasnt fantastic. Waiting time for each dishes took some time.

Location was excellent, the staff very friendly, the rooms were simply furnished but very clean and large. I would recommend this hotels to others and defineitely use again.

I like this hotel coz everything is OK..

I have stayed at this hotel many times before. The rooms are comfortable, the service very friendly, and location most convenient for a gay man. One gets to know the restaurants and other businesses in the immediate vicinity, which makes it a welcoming area of the city in which to stay. A few more loungers are needed around the swimming pool.

Good location for travel. Night Bazar, Lumpini Park, Lot of Thai & western food around.

we were happy with the hotel but the decoration was old fasioned! the subway was not far to reach.
staf was friendly! no breakfast was no problem for us!
we will visit the hotel in future when they finished building near hotel there was a lot of noise during the day and early morning!

The room is a bit old and the light is not bright enough. The room picture where publish in internet are not the same with the real one

No clear instructions on how to reach the hotel from any point of arrival in Thailand including the type of transportation to be used.This made difficult for us to locate the hotel especially that there is English language problem for Thais.

The food was good. They are a bit too strict on visitors for some reason (they need to bring ID and leave it with the front desk).

Likes: Convenient location - within 10 mins walk to Lumpini MRT station, 6 mins walk to Suan Lum Night Bazaar, 7-11 across the street; Good air-conditioning system; Friendly counter staff and bellboys.
Dislikes: Furnishing super old and "classical"; not enough basic toiletries (e.g. no toothbrush/paste, tissue paper); water flow for the shower is very bad; water supply is either too hot or too cold (there´s nothing somwhere "in between"); use of safety box requires THB500 deposit which is ridiculous! I have never come across hotels which charge such a fee.

I have been staying at this Hotel for many years and they are simple wonderful to stay with. Its good value and the staff are simply beautiful. Food is great as well. But dont tell to many people as its hard to get a room sometimes LOL.

Low cost hotel by Lumpinee subway - MRT. Good food at the 24 hour cafe. swimming pool, close to the famous Babyblon sauna. Money boys and girls are part of the area. Good value for what you are looking for but make sure that this is what you are looking for - low cost - good food.

You will not find better value for your money any where in the world.

staffs at the front are friendly but smelly toillet near the reception. Blanket was poor.

At the low prices the Malaysia charges, guests shouldn´t be getting this much. I´ll be staying there regularly when I visit Bangkok. Just make sure you don´t get a room at the end of the building, over the busy street.

Staff ,especially girls on front desk are just great ambassadors for the hotel and room staff very helpful also.If I were very picky,maybe a few more poolside lounges would be welcome.Have stayed approx.3times per year and will continue to do so,just love it.

Great place to stay if you don´t mind the rent boys in the restaurant/lobby. Helpful staff, clean reasonably-sized rooms, fairly convenient location. Note, that the hotel does book up rather quickly, so don´t leave booking to the last minute. We booked our first night in advance, online and hoped to book the remaining two nights once we arrived, however the hotel was already completely booked for the next two weeks.

Value for money I would recommend this hotel particularly to the single travel. Maybe not a hotel for families with youngsers...but there are plenty of those in Bangkok. I will return very shortly...in fact I am staying there in late December...see you soon staff and friends of the Hotel Malaysia.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. Location was pretty good and the prices were very reasonable. Only a short taxi ride to major shopping centres. While the rooms are obviously not 5 star, it was well kept and clean. The TVs are also equipped with CNN, BBC Discovery World Etc. The swimming pool was pretty allright as well. I would definitely return to this hotel as it is value for money.

Room was basic but clean. I did discover that they had other room types and I would book a superior room next time. Swimming pool was a bonus. 24 hour coffee shop good value for money.

The location was very good and it was always easy to get a taxi when going out and most taxi drivers knew the hotel when you came back. Your card with the name and address in Thai and English was very useful. Laundry, coffee and cleaning were all good and the front desk staff were always happy and laughing.

Clean, spacious room with good restaurant and friendly staff. 10-15 mins walking distance from Lumphini metro station, Suan Lum Night Bazaar, A&W and Starbucks. Seven eleven is just opposite. Good, value for money hotel. Will be perfect if the location is nearer to the station.

I asked hotel to get hotel for return trip to airport. I paid them 400 baht and in the morning there was no taxi!!!! I was upset. Luckily, a taxi drove past and I was able to get to the airport.

Near to the city and not noisy

Have stayed many times over the past decade and a half. All staff helpfull and friendly. Excellent food and room service. Comfortable, clean rooms, a home away from home while coming and going from thailand/bangkok. Make a reservation, or you might very well be disappointed. a five in my book!

it´s quite old and the room is really basic. Furniture was old, not carpeted. I only like the clean toilet.

The hotel is in a wasteland - few shops and restaurants, filthy, broken sidewalks, terribly polluted air. It´s a ten minute walk from a subway station, along an eight lane highway, and then down a treachorous narrow sidewalk. The hotel is populated by older, often decrepit men with one thing on their minds. The staff, however, are very pleasant.

All hotel staff were friendly and very helpful.
The reception office staff were very attentive and provided cheerful personal service.
Rooms are spotless and have efficient air-conditoning . Multi channel TV with good signal reception. Very comfortable beds. Bathrooms are excellent. Great value for around 750 to 850 baht per night. Best value in Bangkok! I stayed 12 nights and felt very at home. Friendly domestic staff clean your room daily if required . Good laundry service at modest prices.

The Malai Coffee House provides inexpensive meals of a high standard. Staff are attentive and have a sense of humour.Large menu and the food is very good. Pleasnt outdoor garden area with fish ponds and water gardens. Swimming pool facilities are fine.
All in all a very clean professional hotel which is very busy. It would be even more attractive with many more pot plants inside and outside the hotel. Great place to stay! Booking online is advisable.

Registered unmetered taxis outside the hotel entrance and do provide very reasonable all day trips to places like Kanchanaburi or Pattaya. Good value and friendly drivers. Great to use to avoid those tourist day tours.
By Australian standards I would give the hotel a three star rating. I will certainly be returning.

Excellent location for budget hotel

I really like the location. The room was good size but just average. Service was good. I like very much that my friends could come to my room. The food was average to better than average. I would stay there again.

I´ve stayed at the Malaysia Hotel many times these past 10 years. I usually stay here upon arrival at BKK and then again a few nights before departing Thailand. It´s a great place to transit to other destinations in Thailand. A good sized swimming pool that is kept clean; housekeeping staff that will do nearly everything to keep you happy, a travel desk that can make any arrangement (from train/plane/hotel reserv. to securing a mini van with driver for a 1-way trip up country). Very little staff turn over so there are many familiar faces; which also says they are all doing their jobs and doing them well. Great value and so comfortable - it is truly my home away from home.
