this is a little gem,a great hotel in a great location.the staff were very friendly and graceious which made our stay so enjoyable.great pool on the rooftop with nice views of the river.
location of the hotel made it so easy to get to the grand palace, three stops on the river ferry.
also great area for bars and restaurants, i would recommend this hotel to everybody.

9.2

nice location but don't get a room facing the street, it's just to noisy. Rooms are nice and has a good rooftop pool. The breakfeast was average, no egg station so they are cooked ahead and rather cold.

by William Bacon from Victoria, Canada

Apr 5, 2009

Right on the river and just across the street from the side street that has numerous eating places, shops and vendors.

7.2

Good location, nice pool

by Reinhard from Germany

Apr 5, 2009

nice pool on the roof, nice location, close to express boat pier and rambutri/khaosan area.

Staff was not too friendly (by thai standards), quite noisy room next door was used by staff as storage room or something like that and they started to make some noisy at 5am, construction work going on at a building on the left side (which is quite normal for BKK)

If a good breakfast is an important thing for you, you could be disappointed

Excellent location nearby the river

by Heinz Oehlrich from Germany

Mar 27, 2009

Like: the courteousness of the stuff, the nearby position of the Chao Phraya Express Boat Station, the terrace just in front of the river
Dislike: the climate ventilators in the houses right of the hotel (the stay on the balcony was very noisy)

Excellent hotel on an excellent lacation.

by Olsman H. from Netherlands

Mar 22, 2009

Excellent hotel on an excellent lacation. The hotel is located direct at the river, just near the pier of the river express boats. The hotel and the rooms are clean. The rooms are large, good beds and good equipped. The bath room is good (shower in the bath-tub, no hair dryer). The breakfast at the restaurant is good and in buffet form. The pool on the roof top is very good (when busy not enoug beds), good views over the river and sun set. The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting (bij river express boat (daytime)) the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Flower markets, Bangkok floating market, wat Arun and the Kao San district. No sky train (BTS) or metro nearby. In february 2009 there was reconstruction hassle of the nearby building. At the end of the year the reconstruction is ready.

by Marcus Ottvall from Sweden

Feb 26, 2009

The room was very nice with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good balcony and many TV-channels. The cleaning of the rooms was great. Very friendly staff. The pool was very cold but nicely placed on top of the hotel. Close to Khao San Road and boat rides just outside the hotel. Excellent breakfast.

9.2

Great Location but a bit Noisy

by Ronald W Rogers from United States

Feb 18, 2009

Easy access to the superb ferry system and to the old part of the city was great. We spent the first 3 nights in a river view room, which was very fine, until the ferries started running at about 5-6 am. A little noisy for light sleepers. The room was very clean, modern, and the roof top pool was great. On our way out of the country, we took a cheaper corner room for 2 nights, which are reportedly quiet. NOT! At least the ones overlooking the ferry access are not because at night, after the ferries stop running, part of the access way is converted into a bar which partied on until mid morning.

Excellent location but very noisy

by Trudy Thornton from UK

Jan 21, 2009

We had no sleep for two nights, the hotel is in a very noisy position with river boats stopping outside every few minutes with a guy blowing a whistle non stop, the poulution was dreadful, lovely outisde restaurant but again you choked on the fumes such a shame. The pool was cleaned at 6am and if your below it like us and other people it was a nightmare and if you did ever manage to sleep this would wake you up with the rollers on the cleaner. We complained and so did other people but by then your awake. Its was in a great position and a nice hotel, breakfast was dreadful and always cold with cold plates. The most amazing thing was this Boutique hotel does not have irons and iorning boards, obviously most people and travelling and need to iron clothes that have been in your suitcase for 24 hours, they could even bring one to the room so we had to walk around in screwed up clthes for two days. Not exactly Boutique !

good location

never having been to bangkok before this was as ideal small economic hotel to use as a base. its right on the river so you can use the ferries with ease and two blocks away is the vibrant back packers area so cheap food and night stalls are in abundance. Hotel food was Thai food for westerners so not very spicy but it was good as a start and the breakfasts were good.

Close to Khao San Rd,, good on-site restaurant

by Kidd from Seattle, WA

Nov 26, 2008

I booked with a corner room. The room is nice, no view. Problems with bugs bed for first few hours after catching up with a long flight, had a total of 8 bites for first 2 nights, my leg was inflammed huge & red, thought it was moskitoe bites. Complaint to front desk and manager. Ended up to stay there for next 2 nights because all rooms were booked & they didn't have any room to switch for us. Customer service are excellent, especially the manager named "Think". She's very helpful I appreciated.

Adjacent to Phra Arthit ferry station, close to the Khaosan Road shopping area. Comfortable hotel with good sized rooms with air-conditioning. Warm rooftop pool. Nearby bars can be noisy late at night. Will be even better when hot water available in the evenings!

Comfortable and Laid back

by Bluecider from Makati, Phillippines

It’s not a well known hotel but once you manage to tell your taxi driver that its on Phra Athit, Banglamphu you´ll definitely get there. From the front it’s not much to look at but the view from the back makes it all worthwhile. The front desk is on the inside so just proceed to the back area. It has a 7-11 on the ground floor, so you won´t go hungry if you´d like to have a bite in the middle of the night. We booked the Serene Corner room. Smaller than what I had expected but, for the price (1500 THB/night), it was well worth it. Quite a steal at the moment but their about to double the rates starting October 1 so it might get too expensive. I think the bed was a king so lots of space to roll around in if your that kind of sleeper. You can expect your rooms to be cleaned and fresh towels provided everyday. I actually accidentally left some jewelry lying about and was quite happy to have found them right where I left it so I think I can trust the staff at this hotel.

Breakfast Buffet´s nothing to talk about. Almost, the same everyday but still you’re not in Bangkok to eat hotel food right! And, you’ll have plenty of choices once you step out. Incidentally, there was this one night where we were too tired to look for food so we decided to eat at Aquatini, their in house restaurant, since breakfast was kind of blah, it was quite a surprise that it was quite tasty. Do try their soft-shell crab, really yummy.

In term of convenience, you can often catch a cab outside or if you’re adventurous catch the public ferry right at the back of the hotel. Do ask the front desk what flags stop at the Phra Athit pier so you’ll know how to comeback. If you’re traveling by yourself, this might be the best way to travel since it’s cheaper. But, if you’re 2 or more, you can easily catch a cab and spend the same amount of money.

It´s also very near Khao San Rd and Soi Rambuttri. Since you would be on vacation, its quite a lovely stroll during the night.

We weren’t able to try the pool but from the looks of it, it’s quite lovely. It just closes too early (9am to 6pm) so if you’d like to take a dip in the pool make sure you’re back before then.

My only concern was that the room electricity only functions with your key card and since only 1 key card is provided per room, you can expect that you’ll have to wait awhile before you feel the cooling A/C. Especially necessary since I think it’s generally quite hot in BKK. Also, if you decide to separate from your roommates, you’d have to leave your keycard at the front desk. Overall, my concerns are minor so I wouldn’t mind staying at this hotel again as long as they still have the discount. By the way, you are expected to pay 1000 THB cash deposit for the room keycard.
