I used this webservice to select hotels, but before making a reservation, I checked the reveiews. All of the reviews were extremely helpful, and I realized that I wouldn't be able to get a truly "comfortable" hotel without spending some money. I selected the Royal Benja based on the reviews, and the money was well spent. The Royal Benja was quiet, comfortable, and extremely pleasant. The location was within walking distance to a huge variety of restaurants, shops, and, yes, bars, plus next to Bumrungrad Hospital, where I wanted to see a doctor. I paid 2,000 baht and got a spotless, quiet room with a comanding view of Bangkok and a huge bed that gave me the good night's sleep I needed before heading out on the road to Eastern Thailand. I've stayed in 150 baht guest houses in Bangkok and in 1,200 baht rooms, and I have discovered that my backpacker days are over--at least when I'm in Bangkok--and that it pays to spend some money for comfort. I look forward to returning to the Royal Benja for another visit.
