10 min walk to Ratchathewi sky train station
by Gan Kah Boon from Malaysia
May 10, 2011
From airport i spent only 60 baht to reach this hotel . Eg; Airport rail to Phaya Thai 45 baht than from Phaya Thai to Ratchataewi 15 baht. The cost is cheaper and faster than taking airport bus.Distant from sky train station to hotel is about 500 meters. Walking from hotel to MBK or Pratunam fashion is just less than 15min .Food arround the area are mostly local Thai food so may not suit most foreigners.

Good hotel for your budget.

I stayed 2 weeks at Samran Place Hotel 1April to
13 April 2011.
Everything was all right : location, room, breakfast, staffs, services.. Only few negative
things : noisy at night, hot water too slow to warm up, internet charge too high/unreasonably 10 baht for 5 minutes. I wen to MBK 15 baht for half
an hour (on 7th floor). On average, the hotel is good for your budget. I prefer to stay at Samran
next time if I travel Thailand again.
I appreciated a hotel staff, his name : Mr Tan
Cheunikom.

Cheap but clean and fuss free
by Drusilla from Singapore

It is more like a backpack inn kind of place instead of a hotel. Corridors are relatively old-looking, room doors are door knob kind which i dont think exist anymore in hotels, hope for a renovation on the above 2.
I like the breakfast where you order what you want with the selections from the breakfast menu using the food coupon provided everyday at the reception desk.
Hotel is a 5-10mins walk away from the "mrt station" so it is relatively convenient.
The very bad point of the hotel is, wireless are only available at the ground floor so you've to come down from your room just to use the internet.

Choose it if you've ran out of choices

I booked this hotel after reading the postive reviews. However, I wear no smiles upon checking in.
We were given twin beds when we requested a double bed.
After calling the reception, we were kept waiting at the stuffy, un-ventilated corridor for 5 mins before being transferred to another room.
After inspecting the rooms, we were shocked to find stains on the sheets. They were also torn & sewn. The towels were also stained.
We immediately contacted housekeeping to change it, but we received another sets of stained sheets, though only slightly cleaner.
The toilet has a constant stench to the extent we have to spray it with air freshener everyday, but it only makes the breathing air bearable. The bathtub is also dirty, so the only bodypart we kept in contact with it is our feet for a quick shower.
You'll be greeted with ants at all corners of the room. Probably that's the reason they didnt provide any tea making facilities. A baby roach bid us farewell on our last day, and you can be assured that's our last goodbye to Samran.
Is the hotel all cons & no pros?? not really. i'll be objective to give some.
1. free wifi is handy. there are receptions in the rooms too, so there's no need to go to the lobby. Computer usage charged at 10bahts/5mins, which is very expensive, so bring your laptop.
2. There is a small lane next to the hotel which offers alot of local food at very cheap prices. Adjacent to the hotels are restaurants that operates by night. The food is excellent & reasonably priced. They have english menus so ordering is easy. A traditional hot pot served on clay stove & charcoal is only 140bahts (US$5).
3. Thai massage is next door, so you do not need to travel far, especially after a long day of shopping. Look for only "nian", an elderly lady. The rest do not deliver.
4. Ratchethewi BTS is 10mins stroll away. Pratunum wholesale centre is likewise, which makes shopping an ease.
Note: there's a new hotel Bangkok City Hotel coming up soon, just next to Samran.
So for all the cons, you know where to go.

I definately got a pleasant surprise with this hotel. The staff are fantastic, and though the hotel isn't the newest it is exceptionally clean.
Great value, I will definately use this hotel again when I'm stopping in Bangkok.

The place is basic. Absolutely no bells and whistles. Stay here if you want somewhere to rest your head at night and don’t plan on spending too much time in the room. Although watch out for the airconditioning, as it can become quite cold at night even on highest tempurature. Rooms are quite small and some are smelly. We had to change a couple of times. Staff aren’t very pleasant but then again we didn’t really need their assistance. Only one really nasty older employee who was there for a few hours of an evening.

Location is about 10 mins walk to BTS station. Bath Room shower room door cannot close.
Very quiet when go back at night
Map printed from the website is misleading. Cannot go thru small lane next to Asia htl, has to go thru main road to hotel.

Excellant location, near BTS and major shopping areas. Room is very clean (however had strange burning paper smell loitering in the room in the daytime which we cdn't figure out if it was from pollution or other causes). Pillows are very hard, if you have a stick neck/back, this might aggravate it.

Best budget hotel with super-convenient location
by Majenta from Australia
Mar 24, 2009
The location was excellent, a few minutes walk from the BTS station, and about 20 mins (if u can stand the heat) from Siam Square, MBK, Pontip Plaze and Platinum Plaza.
The room was large and comfortable, clean and tidy, with a large bathroom. Unfortunately, due to the proximity of the main road, there was never a moment of silence, and this is when ear plugs may come in handy unless u are a sound sleeper.
The staff were able to assist with any issues if asked, and a standard breakfast was complimentary.
All in all, a pleasant stay at a comfortable and convenient budget hotel.

A dependable favourite

This budget hotel does it's best to maintain it's standards. We have stayed there 3 times in 5 years. The last for 6 nights in early March '09.
The included breakfast arrangements have moved from the main dining area on main floor, up to the second floor. A bit of a pain when combined with first going down to get the coupon from the front desk and then back up for breakfast. Clearly Samran is trying to manage some problem with this awkward arrangement or using the dining room for more optional breakfasts at an additional charge. The food in the dining room at night was good and a good piano player kept the ambience a step up from the usual ho hum at budget hotels.
The only unmanageable downside is the horrendous noise (jack hammers) on the adjacent construction site. This has been going on for 2 years and likely for another two. The traffic noise on Phetburi is ever present. You avoid one noise source, but get closer to the other!
That said, we'd go back in a flash just to be close to the shopping and the BTS (overhead train)and the courtesy of the staff.

Good Location with helpful staff
by Stanley from Malaysia
Feb 27, 2009
The staff at the receptionist is quite helpful, though we were given the wrong room and being requested to change room. After that we requested to change other rooms (we took a total of 6 rooms), the staff served us with willingness with friendly smiles. Except for the breakfast crew. One of the crew (should be the leader) was quite impolite and hardly saw her smiling.
I was staying in room 802. The only drawback is that the room's air conditioning is not cool enough, compared to other rooms. But this is not a big concern.
Talking about the location, it's at the roadside and can easily access to BTS, within 5-10min walk. Furthermore, it's quite popular too to the taxi drivers (easier for you to ask the taxi driver to bring you back). We met with two group of Malaysians too over the stay.
Nice and pleasant stay, worth the $$$.

Good location - walking distance to MBK, Siam, Pratunam, Tesco Lotus; short cab ride (60B) to Chinatown (200B to airport); near Ratchathewi BTS; 7-11 within 5min in both directions. Massage shop next door is decent (200B), so is roadside stall, cheap (300-400B for 2) n clean food (not those with Karaoke). Decent breakfast in hotel, but staff can be friendlier. Rooms are comfortable, but no kettle, poor water pressure and very limited TV channels. No internet, but what do you expect for less than 1000B/nite? Rooms facing main rd can be noisy.

by CTW from MYS
Jan 22, 2009
When check-in found out the sliding door was left opened. Plenty of mosquitoes in the room. Have to go to 7-Eleven to buy mosquito spray. The window was facing a hotel construction site. 2 nights was disturb by loud techno music from 10pm - 8am. Not sure come from where. The pathway to BTS was uneven and dark at night. Breakfast was OK. Once the housekeeping forget to refill my complementary mineral water. Called down to reception and quite reluctant to give. :|

Clean and spacious room.Worth the price. However, the water heater is hard to control.Either too hot/cold during shower. The staff is unfriendly too.Breakfast is good, can choose from the menu -6 choices (American & Asian style). Location wise, walk ard 10-15mins to the nearest BTS station. Where else, nearest shopping mall is around Siam area, which takes approximately 30mins to reach if you choose to walk.Quite far.But u can always take the tuk-tuk/taxi or BTS.You can try the foot massage (the pink shop) next to the hotel if you are tired from walking the whole day. It´s good.

Like - easy to get to skytrain, shopping easily accessible from any direction whether big stores or local markets, small hotel, staff have always been pleasant (stayed there 3 times), clean and comfortable and a good price.
Could do better - cupboards/furniture a little tired, menu limited (although food has always been ok), air con unit noisy.
Have no real complaints about hotel and will use again. No views from side rooms due to buildings next door but not a great problem as only sleeping there.

The room is clean and spacious. Toilet comes with hot water and bath tub. I always ask for hot water at least 3 times a day, and they are willing to provide with FOC. One poor thing is they didn´t provide electrocnic kettle for water boiling. I like the food at the night market nearby which is very cheap and tasty. The journey from hotel to the BTS is a bit far but it is ok with this budget price hotel which is so near to Siam Paragon, and MBK. Overall, thumbs up ! :)

Good location, value for money
by Leong, J. from Malaysia
Mar 5, 2008
My wife and I stayed here in a standard room for 4 nights (29 Feb-4 Mar 2008). The room was reasonably sized and clean. Our towels were changed daily and 2 bottles of complimentary 600ml mineral water were also provided daily. The complimentary daily breakfast is chosen from a menu and is adequate. However, we couldn´t open the curtains in our room due to the construction going on right next door to the hotel. During the time there, we were out most of the time, so we didn´t experience much construction noise (if at all) during the day.
From the Suvarnabhumi airport, it took us around 40 minutes to reach the hotel. The taxi meter rate was 223THB (This EXCLUDES the 50THB service charge and the 65THB toll rate payable if taking the expressway). The taxi meter fare back to the airport by flagging down a metered taxi in front of the hotel was 208THB (EXCLUDING the 65THB expressway toll). As a point to note, taxis quote a fare of 150THB back to this hotel from the Grand Palace/ Wat Arun area without using the meter.
The hotel is ideally located as the Rachathewi BTS station was less than a 5 minute walk away. Siam Discovery/Siam Paragon/MBK was about 20 minutes walk away. The Erawan shrine is about 45 minutes walk away. The trip on the BTS to the BTS station at the Jatujak weekend market takes about 15 minutes.
Lots of food stalls are open at night along the way to the BTS station from the hotel, offering cheap and tasty meals. From noodles to seafood, they offer a variety of local treats. Do remember to request the food stalls to make your dishes less spicy as well. There´s a 7-11 outlet near the BTS station, so your necessities can be purchased there. A 6 litre bottle of drinking water (Nestle brand) costs 35THB here.

2nd time staying in Samran Place... rooms as good as before, service too!
Best thing is, i´ll be staying there again in less than a month on a trip with some other friends! Locations the best! Muslim restaurants just opposite the hotel, Ratchathewi skytrain stations just about 5 minutes away, 1 station to Siam, 2 stations to Patpong and 4 stations to Jatujak market!!
Thumbs UP!!

The place was acceptable for the price. However, it was not within walking distance to the shopping malls thus making it a little inconvenient. The other thing which i dislike is that the kitchen closes at around 10pm unlike most hotels.

Nice place but a little far off.
by Loke Junhao from Singapore
Nov 29, 2007
The first thing that I noticed is the distance, 15 mins walk to the Platinum/Siam Dicovery. If you´re an avid walker, it shouldn´t bother you much except for the air pollution, but, if you shop alot, it´s gonna take a heavy . The room is bigger than I expected and rather clean. Breakfast is great too. The only problem is transport. Nearest BTS is Rachatewi and taxi (meter)from Siam Paragon would cost about 40 baht at most. Not much eateries nearby. Personally I would prefer somewhere within walking distance to the shopping stretch. I stayed from 22 Nov - 28 Nov. Imagine the amount of walking done.
Please note*
1) Don´t trust any Tuk-tuks outside any hotels as they will bring you to an illegal gem shop or joint and not end up where you´re going.
2) Don´t trust anyone in a suit who speaks nice english and tells you that the shopping center is not open due to some holiday/festival or that its not yet opening hours. Chances are they are in cahoots with the Tuk-tuk gang. Just walk away if anyone seems too friendly. Usually they loiter around shopping areas like outside Isetan, Pratunam, Big C, Central world, etc.
Have fun...

Very near to local food joints and very helpful staff, esp a ´lady´ man whom I did not manage to get his name. Always so helpful to help his guests. Thumbs up for his attentiveness and helpfulness! This is my second time staying in this hotel. In fact when i stepped into the hotel room for the second time, i was still impressed by the room.. clean and roomy enough for 2 ! lots of space for my shopping loot =) location wise, it´s 7-10 mins to the BTS.. for this price, which include breakfast, i really couldnt expect more!
Drawbacks: half of the taxi driver are not familiar with the hotel, so i always have to tell them Asia hotel and from there, i guide them to Samran Place. Also, the heater is either too hot or too cold, the water temperature is hard to control at times. Will be good if drinking water is replenished everyday instead of 2 complimentary bottles per stay. Breakfast wise, quite tasty but i´m quite upset when they do not serve me pineapple juice which was stated on the menu. Also, for the American breakfast, on my first visit, we were asked whether we want the eggs to be half boiled, scrambled, or fried but this time round, we werent given a choice.. all standard which is sunny side up..

Fantastic with the hotel. Value for money. Paying that much (~RM90) but can get a very clean, comfortable and convenient place to stay. Very near to BTS station, easy access to Chatuchak Weekend Market and MBK shopping centre.
Only 1 advice, not to take tour from the Hotel, it´s quite expensive. I took a taxi for Floating Market day tour, it cost me 2000baht only for the transport, once arrived, have to pay another 1300baht to get a boat. And nothing much at the floating market.
I feel comfortable staying in Samran Place as it´s very clean. Thumb up for the cleanliness. Would highly recommend to all my friends.

Rooms very clean and refurnished. No hot water tab.
There are 2 outstanding guys, very helpfull.
Breakfast ok for the price.
Very close from the bts station ( 5 minutes) but far from big c and pratunam centre ( 25 minutes walking)and 15 minutes taxi due to trafic jam.
New bed but with a sligh inclination from right to left.
Acccording my wife opinion if u want to live there ok but... always go out/return by taxi specially after shopping due to the distance and heavy pollution.

Staffs polite and readiness.Distance to pratunam plaza by walking about 20 minutes.

The superior room is really spacious!! Room is clean, and the location is just 5 mins walk to the skytrain station. All staff are willing to help and nice. Very good value for how much you paid.

Love the price and the location (close to Ratchatewi BTS, and close to main shopping destinations). Breakfast is pretty tasty despite the limited choices. Some staff look pretty unhelpful but are actually not. They´re not overly enthusiastic but will all help you when asked. The security man who stands outside is extremely friendly and helpful esp when you need to hail a cab. He´s ready with an umbrella to shelter you if it´s raining.
Could do with a water boiler in the room, but it´s definitely worth the price. Always my first choice when I visit Thailand

I have stay countless times at Samran Place and will always go back there again when I´m back in Bangkok. It is very convenience, just about 10 mins from the train station. Very comfortable rooms and most importantly, it is not costly. One feedback is that the corridors need to be more lighted as it seems rather dim.

Small hotel, but GREAT on the service!
by Tnee Shufang from Singapore
Jul 15, 2007
Samran was really cosy and the service staff were really helpful and polite- when I first arrived in the hotel, the hotel service staff (a young male) actually helped to carry our luggages all the way up to our rooms (5th floor) and place them nicely onto the shelves.
The security guard ( a tanned, middle aged man) was also super friendly. Everytime we came back from night markets he would smile at us and direct us to the back door (Samran’s front door is locked at night). And everytime he saw us leaving the hotel he would help us hail a cab and patiently tell the driver where we were going, and tell him to go by “meter”. Very grateful to him, and I tipped him on a few occasions.
The hotel bed was REALLY comfy! I slept through the whole night and realli had probs waking up cuz it was just too cosy! Breakfast is also provided and do feel free to ask or make any requests to the reception if you need help. They´re very responsive and helpful.
Overall, Samran is SUPER value for money. MY SO and I saved alot of transport cuz we could walk to many shopping areas e.g Platinum, Pratunam, Central World, MBK. If you´re too tired, the BTS is also another option. RAtchathewi BTS Station is onli a stone´s throw away. Save on transport n you can spend more on shopping!
Will definitely return to stay here again! =)

The rooms are pretty good and clean with many cabinets for storing lots of stuff after a "hard" day at the markets and malls. However, their extra bed does cause a bit of backache. The location is pretty good, just a ten mins walk from the skytrain and the staff, except for the receptionists, are all helpful and polite. The breakfast needs to be improved though. Overall it´s still value-for-money but remember to ask for hairdryer in advance if you need ´em or you won´t be seeing them anytime soon!

stayed for 2 nights, Lobby small. My twin bed was stained. balcony dusty and dirty. Breadfast with 5-6 varieties though no buffet. Proportion small. 5 minutes to rachathewi bts skytrain station. lots of taxis don´t know the area. Good air con and bath tub. Read through all the other budget hotels near samran place. Realised this hotel alot better than first house bangkok city inn and best bangkok house (off similar value), even better than more expensive hotel like first hotel which is far frm bts and more costly. Baiyoke sky, baiyoke suite better, bigger rooms but more costly not advisible if you are on budget. asia is 2 minutes and connected to bts from level 2 of hotel but 50 more exp than samran. So after calculation i rather stay here=P

stayed in standard twin. Room size quite good. Bathroom door faulty cant open and close properly. Lobby small. amentities limited. breakfast limited variety. No buffet. Small portion. The day that i was suppose to check out i was pissed because they took an hour to serve me food and i´ve got a flight to catch!! Have 5 sets to choose from. But breakfast not that bad though. Near main road. Can flag cab easily. Aircon and bath good. Near BTS station. About 5-10 mins walk. Alot of 7-11´s around. Reception not very friendly. Breakfast staff remembered us suprisely they are alot more friendly to customer. Alot of seafood stalls at night! cheap seafood. busier back alley at night. You can always go down for a stroll. From hotel balcony you can see some contruction outside on other hotel views you can see first hotel.[where first hotel and first hotel are situated.] Apparantly samran place is more accessible nearer to BTS skytrain as compared to first house or first hotel which are further and older. Room service pretty good. At time they might not clean the room everyday, But i must comment they provide very good room service also.

I kept telling myself, because it´s a budget hotel, so don´t expect too much. But HEY! The staff there were GREAT! Friendly and helpful, very sincere in everything they do. The breakfast although not much option and porting was small, but all was good enough. The location, most of the cabby don´t know the place so you have to take along with you the business card of the hotel. Walking distance to their public train transport, and their whole-sale-mall: Platinium Shopping Centre. There´s nothing I dislike about the place and I recommend everyone to try. It´s fantastic! Worth your every dollar. But please don´t make comparision with 5 or 6 star hotels. =)

Don´t worry, you can have cheap and nice food outside. Bad pt is not many taxi drivers know the place, so better bring a hotel card or say Asia hotel (they sure know it!) and guide them from there! We liked it´s close proximity to the Asia Hotel where our conference was (easy walking distance). The breakfasts were great, as were other meals we had there. Our room was a really decent size and perfectly clean. We had a problem with our refrigerator in the room and once we informed the staff, was fixed within about five minutes!! We used the internet in the lobby a lot during our stay, and it was really handy to have this service available. We were really impressed with Samran Place Hotel, and would recommend it to any travellers.

Most of the hotel staff knows English, very friendly, and are prompt in their service. Room is clean, and not the very run down type. Even though you only get 1 serving for breakfast, but the food is good. There are no kettle in the room, but you can call the reception hot water. It comes in less than 3 mins for me.
Excellent location as the BTS (skytrain) is only 3-5mins walk away, and the wholesale shopping mall is only 15mins walk away. MBK, Siam, World trade is only a few train stops away. Comparing to Asia Hotel which is double the price, I think Samran is better place to stay in. Just do not go to the massage place besides the hotel, the skill is lousy.
Taxi trip by meters is about 210 baht from the aitport if u take it from the departure area. (U dun have to pay 30 baht surcharge)

I stayed in Samran Place for 4 nights and judging from the amount I paid, this stay was absolute value for money. The rooms were clean, there´s a fridge, complimentary drinking water, new towels everyday and even a nice Christmas gift (a basket of Thai oranges). Breakfast was good, because it was freshly made. We had a choice of American and Local sets and all were good. Service at the hotel was excellent, the people there were kind and very helpful.
Location-wise it was OK, about 10mins walk to the nearest BTS station and about 20mins to Pratunam. Perhaps the only complaint is that it´s quite a distance from Suan Lum, but unless you hate walking it isn´t much of a problem walking there (about 1-1.5 hrs walk).
I´ll definitely consider staying here again in my next Bangkok trip, and one suggestion I have for the hotel is, maintain your standard (since many low-cost hotels don´t spend on maintenance so after a few years it becomes very rundown) !

It has an excellent location, very near to Asia Hotel. Although the hotel might not be as big, but it has what one might required during the trip. Free drinking water is another plus point. Easy to take cab as its just next to the main road. Road side foodstall are just afew minutes walk, so if there´s hunger pang at the middle of the night, can just walk over to satisfy one´s hunger. Like the breakfast, unlike those buffet that are already left cold, the breakfast is order and cook immediately! Staffs are extremely helpful and helped translate english language into thai language thus enabling me to save the trouble to describe the location to the cab driver. Thumbsup, definitely will visit Samran again!

It´s rather far from MBK, it´s about 20 minutes walk there! However, there are 7-11s and even roadside stalls nearby and it´s really good at night if you´re hungry.
On the whole, the service staffs were courteous and helpful; the room was kept neat throughout my stay. It´s a good place to stay if you don´t mind the distance(which can be a hassle).

Hotel room is clean. However, do take care not to bring your own white towels as they mistaken mine for theirs. Thankfully, they returned it the next day. Even though we printed out the map and showed the address in thai to cab drivers, they still had no idea where the hotel is.
We got bitten by mosquitoes and found that the water in the plants placed in the rooms were not changed frequently. As a result, it caused breeding of mosquitoes´ larvae.
The pillows were a bit too high and hard. Woke up with a stiff neck every morning.
Other than these grouses, the hotel is overall quite up to my expectations.

very close to skytrain and MBK (walk distance), on the way of airport express (for up to 2 people it´s cheaper then taxi). The hotel is nice, pretty quiet except for a costruction next door that makes some noise in the late evening and morning. The room (cheaper type) was big, clean and enough furnished with spaces for clothes and luggages, anyway do not expect something charming. The bathroom was clean and functional. The breakfast was good, there is a choice of 6, the portion are not huge but enough. The receptionists were helpfull and had no problem allowing us to leave luggages all day in the hall the day of our departures. I´ll remember this place for my next visit to bangkok.

I searched for a lot of hotels before our travel and selected this hotel as it seems convenient. But actually it is not as convenient as I thought. First, no taxi drivers knew this hotel. We have to search for it for half an hour with our baggages, because there is no English on their road name. Then the hotel is 10 min far from the subway. It´s far beyond our estimation. When you take the big shopping bags back, you have to walk so long. Actually Asia Hotel is better in the location which is at the subway entrance. But recommend to stay near the mall you want to shop around, not the area only. Our hotel is close to MBK, but we never went there. We went out & shop around at Central World Plaza & felt if we lived there, it will be better.
But this hotel is very clean, new (than Asia Hotel) & of high value for money. If you can´t find better hotel in cheap cost,it´s a good choice.

The Rachathewi BTS station is really nearby, about 5 mins away, and this station is just one stop away from the central Siam Station, where you can transfer to the Silom line, or get off to shop at Siam Square.
Location is also near Pratunam, which is just straight ahead. We walked there and took about 10-15mins. If you don´t wish to walk, a taxi ride shouldn´t cost much either.
The breakfast tasted good! There is American (eggs, sausages), pancakes, continental, and a good selection of "Asian" breakfast like noodles, rice.
Rooms were clean ´cept for some dubious stains on the bed, but not a big problem. Also has a TV with Star Movies & ESPN, so you don´t end up watching everything in Thai. Room also comes with a fridge and 2 complimentary bottles of water, which they´ll refill if you finish it. Toilets have the basic necessities (soap, shampoo, shower cap, towels). Some rooms have a bath tub, but mine only had a shower. Only problem here was we had no heater, so it was cold water.
Staff were okay. Not outright welcoming and friendly, but not rude either. Most of them seemed to mind their own business more often than not, which can be a good thing if you don´t like people to keep asking you if you need help. But if you ask them anything, they will willing oblige. We came back late one day and wanted badly to have a coconut. They were actually closed, but they decided to "open" shop to serve us our coconut. Perhaps they just wanted to make money, but I thought it was nice of them. :)
Overall, a pleasant experience for a good budget price. Will return again.

Personally I find this hotel very worth for $$ and pretty comfortable for my gf and I. The room is clean and neat and pretty spacious. The hot water is not hot at all, just warm.
The breakfast which they provided each day is pretty ok, ranging from western breakfast and local Thai food, rather a small portion for me.
I can easily walk to Skytrain station just about 5 mins away and I can wave for a cab easily just outside the hotel. It is also walking distance to Siam Paragon about 10 - 15 mins if u dun mind to enjoy the evening stroll..
Definitely I will stay over this hotel again on my next visit..

Don´t bother to book this place unless you enjoy walking. The motel is about 15mins of walking from the nearest skytrain. It´s basically NO where near any eateries, shopping area or sightseeing places. In short, it´s really inconvienent to venture out from the motel in the day or night. You may need to consider returning to the motel earlier because it´s really dark at night to walk from the skytrain (when the tuk-tuk and taxi are demanding ridiculous price). Please also bewarn that MOST taxi drivers have NOT heard about this place.
The breakfast is nothing to die for, there´s NO safe deposit box in the room; air-conditioning is only for hotel rooms. The lobby is a comination of so-call ´restaurant´ coupled with a few chairs.
For this price, there´s better motel at a better location.

Spacious Room for a Shopping Trip
by C. M. Westlake from Singapore
May 13, 2006
If you´re looking for a room to relax in then this won´t be the one for you as it lacks some amenities to make it more homely. But if you want a simple room you can sleep in woth lots of space to dump your shopping and go out to do some more then it´s all you´ll need. The bathroom (tub & shower) was spacious enough with a door that muffled the noise so that it didn´t disturb the person sleeping right next to it. Plus with the BTS station just a short walk from the hotel it´s rather convenient for those who are going there to shop till they drop. The exterior is rather worn down but the room was still in a very good condition though some lights were blown out but were replaced quickly by the friendly staff. The air-conditioner and hot water were a bit of a problem though. The air-conditioner seem to be too cold no matter what temperature we set it. There also was a problem getting a hot shower in the morning when it was cloudy or had rained the night before.

very unfriendly staff

The reason that we choose the place was because it was reasonable priced and the location was not bad. We stayed at Samran Place on the first day of our visit to Thailand and also on the last day. First time we didnt have reservation and were charged 1100 baht, and second time we reserved through internet and were charged 800baht for the same room.We find this price difference very unreasonable. Unfortunately, the unfriendly manner of the person at the reseption will remain in our memories regarding Thailand.

Cosy place for a fussy traveller

I have only stayed in Pathumwan Princess the last 3 times I have visited Bangkok. I have no idea why I have decided to try out Samran Place. I have no regrets and I will definitely stay in Samran when I visit Bangkok again.

Samran Place - Value For Money

Not the best hotel you can stay in Bangkok neither the worst. For the money you pay, you can get a pretty good room in a good location. I enjoyed the stay as I am looking for a functional place where I can relax and sleep. Not for the fussy travellers who need a fantastic room.

Good rooms but Taxi man don´t know where

Very big and clean room... very happy to see its very clean and a wall to wall windows... Breakfast was good enough, not filling but there is lots of nice food all around Bangkok so just eat a little and go out enjoy untill you want to get a good full meal... Got to take a name card from the hotel to show to taxi drivers cause most of them do not know the place well even its on the main road... Tuk Tuk should know the place well but their price is not acceptable... Had a excellent trip... =)

The room was cozy and clean with fresh bedsheets and a rather comfortable bed. Bathroom was satisfactory, although rather compact but has a clean bathtub, consistent control of hot/cold water and sufficient water pressure. I would say that half of the hotel staff were great in terms of service, hospitality and friendliness. Half in this case since the night shift crew were the ones that made a lasting impression unlike those working in the morning who tend to pull a long face and weren´t too helpful. Mainly the negative aspects were experienced at breakfast in the mornings, whereby waitresses too pre-occupied with trying to serve the entire crowd fast but ended up taking the wrong orders or serving the wrong food. So that resulted in them consuming more time while trying to save instead. But that wasn´t too big an issue, since i´m hardly able to wake up on time for breakfast in most cases. Location of the hotel is alright, coz ultimately it depends on the itinerary/ programs/places that the individual has planned to venture. But generally ideal with the proximity to the BTS station. Overall, whether i would return back to the same hotel depends on my schedule of events. But if one planned to stay near Siam, Samran Place would be one to consider.

Within reach from the MRT and cheap option to stay

I have stayed in this hotel twice and find that it´s really convenience, close to MRT, cheap and good. The oly disadvantage is that the hotel does not provide flask for boiling of hot water.

For the price you pay, this is consider value for money. Max 45 min to airport. The toilet is quite clean. The staff should be more friendly. Breakfast is quite alright.

Excellent place, decent breakfast couldnt ask for more at this price. Really can´t figure how it could be so cheap. Plus friendly and helpful staff. Only small little gripe it´s that it´s some walking distance away from the BTS.

The rooms are clean, and good size. Any problems are fixed straight away. About a 5 minute walk to the skytrain.
Staff are fairly helpful, but you have to ask.
