Good location, nice rooms but...

The "Superior" room I stayed in was nicely decorated but cramped. I can´t imagine what a "Standard" room would look like. The position of the toilet bowl was just plainly ludicrous, try #204 to see what I mean. I checked in thirsty and no beverages in the mini-bar, bring your own. The beeooootiful LCD TV had 5 channels in Arabic + the Beeb and two movie channels in English. Sport lovers might want to check the local newspapers...the day after. Staff at the reception was impolite at worst and unhelpful at best, let me explain: upon check-in, staffers started giggling while both observing my voucher. When I inquired about the reason for such unrelenting joy, my curiosity was dismissed as if it didn´t concern strangers. I didn´t like that. At all. I´m your customer, baby, not your beer-drinking buddy. The day I checked out, my magnetic credit card room key refused to let me in my own room. When I inquired to that same giggling girl for a plausible explanation, I was told that "check-out time was noon"...wait for it...at 10:30 AM. Two attempts later, she finally managed to re-magnetize a key card but I still had to do the trying myself, no in-house help offered. I won´t mention furniture-moving noises which lasted late into the night as this hotel seems wanting to enforce non-smoking rules more than they care for their guest´s tranquility. Since 1986, I have witnessed Thailand´s truly extraordinary qualitative increase in the hospitality business. This place seems to be among the few exceptions to the rule.
