Clean rooms, basic amenities. Had to remind staff to clean room each day. Staff failed to provide fresh towels. Breakfast basic; coffee was like brown water. Tram not always available.

I first booked a standard room, which has a door ,of closed to the next room. The aircon was a little bit to loud.so I changed the room without a problem.
american breakfast was a little bit boring, but here is no great chance for change. The thai dish at breakfast was good.changed every day.
the coffe was american style, very thin.
If booking not online , you pay nearly the double price.Shuttle service to sukhumvit rd.worked well 24 hours.

My husband and I were in Thailand for two months and were in and out of Bangkok fairly frequently. We stayed at the Royal Asia Lodge every time we were in the city. If you're on a buget, the RAL is great value for money (it's not a luxury hotel). It's very cute--there's a little tuk tuk that will drive you back and forth to/from the main road and a hilarious little pool on the roof (about the size of a king sized bed) along with a hot tub and great views of the Bangkok skyline. The location can't be beat--right on the skytrain and metro lines with easy access to the highway (for the airport). There are a bunch of great little restaurants in the area too (also one in the hotel, though we didn't eat there).
The rooms vary (we stayed in different ones) but on the whole were quite clean and spacious, with English language movies on cable, room safes, air conditioning, and a sizeable mini fridge (and the mini bar is so cheap you can drain it without worry!). The staff are super friendly and helpful, and will book trips for you. They also stored a bunch of our stuff for us for a very small fee while we went on trips around other parts of Thailand.

Great Finding !!!

Found the Royal Asia when walking down Soi 8; it is a small family run hotel with a red tuk tuk that offers free service up and down the Soi 24 hours a day. Rooms are clean and the staff friendly and accommodating. Virtually no car parking. Owners are Thai/Indian and extremely friendly to guests.
Owners even took a group of us to dinner and pointed the way for sights to see the next day.
I would return to this hotel
