The hotel itself is really nothing special, The rooms are old (old building, heard that rooms in the newer buildig are better) and small. They do have a bathtub inside which I really appreciate, evev if you sometimes have to wait a while for hot water. There is a nice swimmingpool which is a not to common feature in Pratunam budget hotels. The included breakfast is not to bad. Wifi is slow and expensive.
The best thing is the location. in the heart of pratunam with Bangkok´s best shopping and good eating less than ten minutes walk away. Also easy to get a taxi or tuktuk at a decent price. Near Ratchathewi staion if you prefer Skytrain. Will probably stay there again.

i have been there 4 times.that was very good experience.tower wing is very good.

The hotel is big and nice. Rooms in the new wing is much better.

They upgraded us to deluxe just to be friendly.

Feedback - The room 1004 that I stayed on 3 Apr 2009 to 10 Apr 2009, the flushing cistern that was installed have to be very careful. If I flush too fast, the water will continue to run non-stop (must help to save water)and there is no hot water supply.

Tissue paper should be provided and shoe shine cloth.

However, the service was really good and I will definitley recommend to all my friends in Singapore to stay in First Hotel.

Dislikes: No bathropes,room is small,lightings problems,room cleaning service isn't that good,aircon is not cold enough,heater having problem too.

My husband and i stayed last Sept 8-12,2008 (3nights, 4 days). Checking in was quick,receptionist and hotel staffs were friendly and accommodating. We had a room at the 6th flr on the main wing, 618 to be exact, and it was clean and neat so as with the toilet. Slept well at night at a comfortable bed, NO BUGS at all as some people say. The room was cleaned everyday, beddings and towel changed everyday. There was an instance that we had a chance to see the housecleaner in our room, of course, doing her job, and she was really so thankful when my husband gave her a tip.
Buffet breakfast was satisfying. We had dinner on the hotel restaurant on our last night and it was superb! Good food! Pastries at the First Bakery were very good too, they have discounted prices, half the price at 6-9pm
As with the location it is really near everything, to the railway station, markets, malls, drugstores, restaurants, massage clinics, post office, etc.
Before i forget, there´s a brown DOG there at the hotel´s entrance door which my husband got to love, she´s friendly and wags her tail whenever we leave and get back from the hotel, we miss her.
SURELY, we´ll be back in First Hotel...Very satisfying!

We got the impression that the staff (particularly the Restaurent staff) preffered people of white skin although we paid the same or more than them. The darker skinned were automatically directed to a seperate dining area (Vegetarian !!!)even the front office which issued the meal coupons on arrival. This decision must be the Guests. My family & I decided not to have any meals other than breakfast at the Hotel because of their attitude. The staff seem to encourage "touts" at the entrance to the Hotel - you can get a taxi or tour at half the price these "touts" offer. House keeping staff are very helpful and also the very younger members of the front office staff. The older ones have forgotten that they are in the HOSPITALITY industry.

I booked 2 nights on standard room in Main Wing, and 2 nights on superior room in Tower Wing.
Really recommand to stay at tower wing, the room is cleaner and bigger in a slicely different price.
The service is average. What I like is the location that is very close to Pantip Plaza, shopping center and sky train that less than 5 minute by walk.
Btw, the reservation staff of Hotels2Thailand was very helpful and assisted me to book when I got a problem. Very recommand to book a hotel from this website. Easy, convenice and the prices are unbeatable.

Good location yet having an affordable price. Most of the shopping malls are walk-able. Approx 10-15min walk to the main area where most shopping malls are located. Rooms are not luxurious but cosy. A good hotel for travellers who are less particular abt rooms to location.

Actually I liked the pool in the tower wing, very clean as well.

Decent for what I paid so no complains, one good thing was the free buffet dinner. Brownie points there.

i like th e location but some time room service is not good

Good location for Pantip Plaza & Pratunam Markets. Good run to the ariport (200B with tolls). Room we had was small - bathroom door didn´t open far enough for easy access. Domsetic staff were helpful, front desk staff could be replaced. Most questions asked were ignored.
Be aware of the 1,000THB ´key deposit´ - really a mini-bar deposit on registration.

First the hits:
-Excellent location for shopping
-Reasonably priced
-Rooms a bit dated yet perfectly functional and clean

Then the misses:
-Staff at reception seem to know little about common places within Bangkok
-Tuk-Tuks and Taxis parked in the hotels rank are useless, won´t take you directly anywhere and instead want to drag you to various places they get commission from necessitating walk down street to catch straightforward transport.

Overall I´d stay there again, but the minor annoyances I encountered should be fixed (and quite easily too)

The hotel location is good. The room is clean except the toilet needs to be improved especially the toilet bowl which was nit working properly.

It was my second stay at First Hotel. My first stay over there i got rashes all over my body. When i got back from bangkok, i met 2 friends who stayed at First Hotel and experienced the same problem - itchy rashes all over their bodies. So during my second trip i still chose the same hotel because of familiarity. But I did check the bed before i use it and found small insects crawling underneath the sheet and also the quilt/duvet cover. I think it could be bedbug or lice os fleas. Certainly the hotel dont wash the sheets properly. Cant they do something about it - use clean & hot water for their laundry.

Although a bit old but really CLEAN. Everything is so convenient !!!

this was my firt stay at this hotel because my booking at the hotel that I usually stay at could not be confirmed. I was very happy with all aspects of the hotel but I do agree with many of the other reviews...that the breakfast could be a bit better and the food could be a bit hotter.

room need to decorate again as too old esp. the washroom is not funtioning properly.

WHEN I AND MY WIFE CHECK IN THE FIRST NIGHT, THEY GIVEN ME A ROOM WITH 2 SINGLE BED. AND THEY PROMISED TO GIVE ME ANOTHER ROOM AT THE NEXT DAY. I DID REMIND THEM AT THE NEXT MORNING AND WHEN I CAME BACK IN THE EVENING, "WITHOUT CHECKING, WITHOUT ASKING WHICH ROOM I´M STAYING"! ONE OF THE LADY TELLING ME THAT THEY DON´T HAVE ANY EXTRA ROOM! ONLY AFTER I INSIST I WANT THEN A MAN SAYING SOMETHING TO THAT LADY AND GIVE ME ANOTHER ROOM´S KEY.
WITH THE ROOM RATE 1500 BTH AND COFFEE AND TEA NOT PROVIDED, I CAN´T SAY ANYTHING BUT WHEN I ASK FOR HOT WATER .... 1ST DAY VERY FAST! 2ND DAY MORE THAN 30MINS! (THEY TOLD ME WAITING FOR THE WATER TO BOIL!) 3RD DAY AFTER I CALLED, THE HOUSEKEEPER DID CALL TO FLOOR HOUSEKEEPING AT MY FLOOR 8TH FLR ( I CAN HEAR THE PHONE RINGING AND FROM MY ROOM I CAN SEE THE HOUSEKEEPING ARE TALKING WITH HER HP AND DON´T WANT TO PICK UP THE PHONE!)THE HOT WATER COME AFTER FEW MORE CALLS AND MORE THAN 30 MINS!
THIS IS MY 3RD TIMES STAYING IN THIS HOTEL, THIS TIME, FOUR NIGHTS! MAYBE LIKE OTHERS SAID BUSSINESS TOO GOOD.

Location good. Food is halal and good form muslim tourist. However, receptionist in registration desk is not that friendly.

abit far from the bts station

Musky and tobaco smell. Sound of RATS doing marathon in ceiling one night. Apart from that not bad for the price and location.

Dislike: Only satisfactory service given in the restaurant maybe due to under staff, believed to have booked a queen size bed but given 2 single beds.

First and foremost, i´m a muslim and First Hotel has its muslim restaurant (it´s really hard to get decent muslim food in bangkok). This scores the points. Secondly i´m very comfortable with its location. It´s a central of all the shopping spots i want to visit in bangkok. Thridly the room rate is quite reasonable and hope the hotel will maintain it.

Its good and comfortable..and its not that expensive too.. i`m very greatful that there`s a muslim restaurant there.. Make us easier to have breakfast and dinner..

Good location.near th BTS and we could easily walk to those shopping centres.suitable for low budget traveller.We stay at tower wing,the room quite clean and neat.we stay here quite comfortable.thk will stay here again when we come holiday again!

Though we stayed at the old building, which wasnt that nice...(recommend the new building.Take note!!) we really enjoyed our stay. The staffs were very friendly and the General Manager himself helped us alot. He organised games and dinner and presents for us for it was a company trip. He was very patient and approachable though our "head" was very fussy...The staffs were more than willing to help though their command of english wasnt that tremendous but they did put in effort. But maybe the breakfast should change. We had the same thing everyday and it doesnt taste that marvelous. Can do better. Oh ya by the way First Hotel used to be one of the best hotel in Bangkok... Watever it is, i strongly recommend this hotel for their friendly and warm service. Try the new building...

Stay On 20-23 Jan 06 and 31 - 02 Feb 06 Excellent Breakfast. Poor service and the house keeping clean up the room wasn´t honest stealing all foreign notes(not coin) from my purse whice leave on table. there´s no setf box.

We had a 2 days stay in this hotel. The worst was that we found cockroaches after we return to the room after clubbing. The washstand in the bathroom needed repair(the water was running under it. I am not recomending this hotel. When we returned back to bangkok (after our trip in Phuket) we stayed in another hotel.
