Mexico hotel blast caused by gas

by Tan Beng Kiat from Singapore

Jan 21, 2011

What happened in Mexico might happen in this hotel. underground pipe choked and gases produced by decomposing organic material started to leak made the room smelly that we needs to change room( we book three room at the ground floor). if the chokeed pipe dont solve eventually the gas will cause the explosion, especailly during summer season.

EXCELLENT LOCATION, VERY VERY GOOD BREAKFAST, CLOSE TO PRATUNAM MARKET, BUSSES, 15MINS WALK TO TRAINS.
GREAT MASSAGE CENTRES ON MAIN ROAD, $7.5 AUSSIE FOR A 1 HOUR FOOT MASSAGE, MISSINNG IT ALREADY.
ROOMS OK, CANT EXPECT MUCH FOR A LOUSY $45 WITH FULL BUFFET BREAKFAST.
SHOPPING CENTRES, START FROM A COUPLE MINUTES WALK

Good location

by doris tan from Malaysia

Jun 16, 2009

Location within Pratunam was very convenient. The only thing is that there is no flask to boil water in the room. Water Shower pressure was very good. The only disadvantage is having to walk over the overhead bridge to cross over to Pratunam wholesale market.

The hotel is not noisy. Cosy and nice. Dislike the bath room tap. No hooks to hand clothes in the bathroom. Toilet bowls very very clean and white. Room lights are bright.

7.2

Excellent location, good breakfast but poor desserts

by Tan Meow Kheng from Singapore

Jul 6, 2008

The place was quite out of the way. Many taxi drivers did not know how to there which makes going back difficult. The breakfast was not bad but when my family and I went back to have our lunch there. The main course was fine.. until the dessert, the coconut cream that they used weren´t fresh (could taste the stale flavour) and the sesame dumplings in the ginger syrup were horrible. Thank God that they refunded us our money but there was only after my mom asked to speak to the boss. And it seemed like only after we made noise about the desserts that they offered the 15% discunt that was for in house guests. Otherwise, they would have ´forgotten´. Other than that, the staff were generally quite friendly. The place is not bad too.

For the Family Traveler

by Joe T from USA

Dec 17, 2007

I enjoyed my stay at the PJ Watergate. What I liked best about it is that they do not allow "outside guests". So it leads to more of a family type clientèle. The hotel is set back a bit from the main road on a very narrow Soi. Taxis were easy to find, but walking the soi was a little dangerous, just due to so much traffic. My fiance found a great little salon on the Soi, and went there twice during our stay. It is on the right as you walk from the hotel to the main road. She only paid a fraction of what the same services cost in the States. They do not have a pool, but I can´t swim anyway. Overall I highly recommend the hotel for young couples. Older couples may find walking an inconvenience, and single travelers will be upset if they try to bring in a "girlfriend". It is very popular, as every room was booked.

7.6

spa was value for money, but should have discounts for hotel guests for all packages, rather then only for certain packages.

by ALEXANDER JUANITA from Singapore

Jul 6, 2007

IT´S GREAT FOR SHOPPERS AS MALLS AND WHOLESALE MARKET IS JUST ACROSS THE ROAD, AND ALSO CLOSE TO MC DONALDS AND MASSAGE CENTRES ALL OVER THE PLACE. SO OVER ALL IT´S GRET FOR BUDGET TRAVELERS WITH MORE MONEY TO BE SPENT FOR SHOPPING........HOTELS STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND B´FAST WAS GOOD TOO.

Value for Money Hotel in Pratunam

by James Chua from Phillippines

Jun 19, 2007

Good Points:
1) Staff are able to communicate in English
2) Inexpensive
3) Clean, quiet and cozy rooms (3rd floor)
4) Buffet breakfast
5) Walking distance to Pratunam market, Baiyoke, Pantip, Thai massage
6) Nice lobby and bar with band performers at night

Others
1) You can smell the sewer in the elevator and inside the gym. Our room was at the 3rd floor, so no problem with the smell of sewer.
2) Breakfast was average in terms of variety and taste
3) Hotel is located along a soi (alley), but accessible to taxis via Soi Wattanasil.
4) A refundable deposit of THB1000 is required upon check-in
5) Don´t expect a good view from the window. The hotel is only 3 storeys high. Our room had a good view of Baiyoke Hotel though

Great Hotel For The Price

by Shaun Raymond from Australia

Dec 4, 2006

This PJ Watergate is a very good hotel for the price you pay. It´s a 2min walk too Pratunam Market, 5min to Pantip Plaza & 10min walk too MBK. The food at breakfast is great, though some bacon would be nice :) The hotel staff are really friendly. The room we stayed had no view but it didn´t matter. Reccomend to all though wish it had a pool.

8.4

Fantastic location for shoppers looking for dirt cheap clothings

by Belinda Soon from Singapore

Aug 9, 2006

My stay at PJ watergate was a very delightful experience. It was my first visit to Bangkok and due to all the recommended hotels (from my friends) being fully booked, i was den recommended PJ watergate. I was rather skeptical about it initially but when i arrived at the hotel, i was pleasantly suprised!
For the money i paid, this hotel surpass my expectations.
PJ watergate exudes coziness, it gives you a very homely feeling. And the staff there are very friendly. I stayed on the 2nd floor of the hotel, being someone who is rather particular about cleanliness, i was glad to see that the hotel room was clean.

It is located in Pratunam, shopping centres such as the Big C, Pratunam centre are within walking distance. The hotel is surrounded by numerous food stalls and makeshift shops. The Pratunam Market where you get all the wholesale price for clothings etc is just across the road.

Pj Watergate, made my 9days 8 nights stay at bangkok a very enjoyable one!

I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

Great staff, rubbish room.

by Mick Dean from Halifax, England

First visit to Thailand Sept 05. Booked hotel at airport. Got windowless room, fairly grim but clean.Huge bed.Water only dribbled from shower. Public areas spotless and tasteful. Staff marvellous. Quiet even though only metres from the bustle. Food good. Enjoyed entertainment. Happy to stay again, but pay more for balcony. Draught Singha cheap in quiet outside bar. Ideal for single blokes.
