the pictures are very very outdated

staff: depending on when you go to the front desk you may get lucky with an english speaker, and when you are not more than likely you will get an answer "yes"to most of your questions just to get rid of you.

room: very tiny, bed were very uncomfortable, bathroom too small, and our room the hot water was broken. its dusty and moldy

basically you get what you paid for. for the price that i paid with breakfast included (not hearty just enough so you are not hungry) it was decent.

location wise: good right on kao san road and in an alley away from the loud crowd and noise however make sure you have the right sawadee inn. on that rod alone there are 6 different sawadee inn's i had to walk up and down a very small alley in the rain with luggage to look for this place

i regret spending a little bit more money for a little bit more comfort. the pictures are very misleading. just add about 50 more years so the pictures you've seen.

Room was dirty and the service is worse

by Mr.Lee See Yau from Malaysia

The service of the staff is worst! No manners at all! They took long time to arrange the room for me since I had made the booking a few days ago. The room was dirty and I saw a spider crawling on my bed. The bath room also very dirty and the water drainage was blocked.

Cheap and cheerful

This hotel satisfied my requirements, in that we wanted to be located within a short distance of Khao San Road and have satisfactory facilities. The Sawasdee Bangkok Inn provided both and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody wanting a reasonably priced room for the night with access to all that Khao San Road has to offer.

It should be noted that there is a much better facility for a similar price in a similar location, it is called the D&D Inn. If D&D is full then Sawasdee Bangkok Inn would be an appropriate second choice.

Back-Packers Delight !

by Alan Sampson from Johanesburg, South Africa

It is what I expected for the tariff - basic but convenient for everywhere. Not the place to take someone you want to impress ! For those wishing for a cheap place to put your head down, this is ideal !

The bed was too soft for my liking really, but that´s the only real complaint I have. I used it to crash on my first night but after that I moved straight into a better cheaper place: Four Sons.

Solid Mid Ranger, value for money, great location

by Ad from SE London, UK

Great location, tucked away in an alley, 20 secs from Kho San Road, though quiet with it. Rooms are very very small, but very clean and have powerful A/C, good HOT shower and decent cable TV. Professional if not helpful or friendly staff. If you are looking for a step above budget, with a few basic extras then recommend. Good value for money.

Good location for main sites, basic accomadation

by Martyn Sankey from Somerset, UK

Very hard to find if you arrive late at night as the main road closesat 5 for the market. Airpoet bus stops very near. walking distance to grand palace (Early morning)Book all your nights throught the internet as extra nights are expensive. No where to hang cloths in room and rooms are small. food and beer in hotel expensive but you are in the middle of things here.so eat out. they run dvd on big screen untill the early hours in the dinning area so get a back room if you want some quiet.Check out is a long process so give your self plenty of time. 500Batt deposit (Refundable) for keys and mini bar.Check the mini bar when you check in to make sure it is complete or you will be charged for any missing items. Break fast OK a few chooses but not alway all avalable. be careful as thay will charge for a second coffee etc.

Beware of taxi and tooks on main road hunting down tourist.

OK for a brief stay to get yourself acclimatised before finding somting better.

Ronseal Style Accomodation

by Daniel Gilhooley from Newcastle Upon Tyne

Jan 22, 2006

The room was exactly what it said on the tin, 2 Beds, Air Con, TV and Fridge. But be ready for a shock when you see the toilet come shower (no joke)

But it is located directly on Kosahn Road and for 4 quid a night it is well worth the value. And the freash fruit and toast for breakfast was excellent.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sawasdee Bangkok Inn. I´ve stayed there twice. The staff (particularly the night staff) were very friendly and happy to help. The room might smell a bit musty at first, but it´s clean and with air conditioning! Also, something very important to me is the shower. It has beautiful HOT HOT water. To top it off, a fantastic breakfast is included! You´re offered a choice of about 6 different breakfast meals. They also show movies on a big screen in the courtyard throughout the afternoon and night. It´s located in the heart of Khao San Road, but quietly tucked away. There´s great shopping to be had at Khao San road, but if you want to go somewhere else you would need to take a taxi. Many of the tourist spots are very near by, some even walking distance away, but you´re not near any subway or MRT. I will definitely be staying at Sawasdee Bangkok Inn again!
