by Sue Zie from Singapore

Apr 14, 2011

I stayed in a renovated room on 5th floor which was clean. They only put 1 bottle of mineral water on the second day but did not bothered to ask as I have purchased some juices from nearby shopping centre. Gem car took abt 5 mins to Siam Paragon but last car from Siam Paragon leaves at 9 pm. If can extend to 10pm will be better.

2nd stay and it is still great! As mentioned previously, location is fab. Turn left when you stepped out of hotel, walk down and get a buggy ride to Siam Centre/Paragon/Square and Siam BTS! Convenient and 3 mins walk to 7-11. Would be great if the pillows are slightly better :) But well, it is ABSOLUTELY value for $.

Great location with friendly staff

by Wen from Singapore

Jun 18, 2010

The location is great, it's walking distance to platinum mall and free shuttle service to the nearby Siam paragon.
The staff are friendly and helpful, though they are not really knowledgeable when it comes to local tourist information.
The room that i stayed in was newly renovated hence it's clean. However, there are limited English TV channels and no entertainment at the beer garden.

Apr 4, 2010

My boyfriend stayed at Residence's standard rooms last year and told me it was a very budgeted hotel. I read up many reviews and was very skeptical about the room conditions as they were very negative. Peeling, dirty walls. Mouldy shower curtains, bath tubs - the works. Hence, we decided to book the Deluxe room this time. And true enough, Deluxe is GOOD. It was newly renovated, laminated flooring, clean bathroom and beds. (though beds were soft, gave me some aches) Love the location as it is near the major shopping malls and the buggy ride to Siam area saves us alot of time and energy. Staff was friendly but didn't make an impression. Breakfast was the same daily, food quality nothing to shout about. I chose to eat toast and eggs most of the time.

Overall - A very good deal for breakfast/bed with such splendid rooms/location. Love it and totally will recommend you the Deluxe rooms.

Niightmare in Residence Rajtaevee Bangkok

by The unhappy guest from Singapore

Mar 18, 2010

My colleagues and myself (4 of us) checked into this hotel for a weekend stay because we thought it was cheap and convenient to go to Platinum Plaza but it was a really unpleasant stay and nightmare for all of us.
The first family suite given to us was a little rundown. The kitchen window lock was spoilt and unable to lock at all and we feared that outsiders able to climb into the apartment through the window middle of the night. The rooms were a little spooky especially the master bedroom and this room gave all of us a very chilly feeling.
We have no choice but to ask for a change of room and our wish was granted. The 2nd room we thought was so much better. It was more cosy and cleaner we thought but after flushing the toilet a few times, the water in the toilet bowl overspilled all over the toilet floor. Thank god none of us did our "business".
There were mosquitoes in the living room and all of us were their target while watching the television.
We concluded that we will not even consider going back to this hotel for our next Bangkok trip. Once biten twice shy!

I would stay at this hotel again if I go to Bangkok next time, the location is good just 5 mins walk to Rajtaevee Station, the breakfast was tasty but they never changed the menu, staff were nice but I suggest receptionists to give more information about the hotel services and surroundings.

by Prabh from Singapore

Mar 12, 2010

the place is decent and has quick access to paragon and other shopping avenues in the city.

the quick access to BTS (skytrain) is also a plus point if you want to use the public transport.

the staff turned cold the moment we checked out :)

The location of this hotel is very convenient. It's walkable distance just to any main Bangkok shopping centre. Free ride to Siam Paragon by golf cart which is just around the corner. You can walk to MBK from there. Room is clean and comfortable. Food is great, The Tom Yum Soup quite nice. Also the Fried Rice and Phad Thai. Will definately stay again. Most recommended as you will save lots of money from Tuk2 and Taxi.

Feb 6, 2010

I appreciated the good and friendly services form the staff. The location is excellent, near to shopping malls, night market and good eating outlets. Actually I had just came back from there and is making another booking to stay there again in a couple of months time. The last time I was there, I have made an embarrassing mistake and I would sincerely like to apology for that mistake to the manager and management of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone anytime.

Our 3rd stay in 4 years, Jan 15 - 19th. The family rooms have not been renovated yet & while it has its shortcomings - the price is right(until its renovated!). Breakfast was the same day in day out.
Would recommend The Residence for its location & pleasant staff.

however, i have to say that they hav a wonderful bellman/doorman...seemed very sincere, polite & the housekeeper on the 4th flr, very accommodating...the restaurant manager/supervisor didnt seem to like asians...no expression at all

Good hotel but rough start

by Choo Choon Kiang Adrian from Singapore

Dec 24, 2009

We arrived at 3.45pm expecting our rooms to be ready. Got a special welcome, check in seperate lounge area, welcome drink. Then was told 1 room will only be ready in 30min time. waited 4.30pm still not ready. when asked, guest out not back yet, evasive, talk among themselves in thai try to pretend we are not there. at 5pm my friend who is suppose to stay in that room went up to check on the situation, feeling ignored, she flare up, a male staff reacted, hitting his chest, swearing that the room will be ready in 30min time, 30min later still not ready yet, waited for another 15min, all in we waited 2hrs from 3.45pm to 5.45pm for one of our rooms. then we discovered that there was an overbooking in the hotel. another guy that came after 5pm had to check himself into another hotel. after the male staff flare up, there was no apology nor any attempt to compensate us for the conconvenince caused.
besides the rough start, everything else was ok.
as i recommended the hotel and did the booking for my friends, if i can find a better hotel nearby, i may not want to go back to this hotel.
one bad experience is enough

around 7mins walk to pantip,
10mins walk to platinum fashion mall,
12 mins to pratunam center,
20 mins to central mall & zen (pretty near to siam paragon n discovery but didn't walk there so not too sure abt how long it takes)

check out date: 12 Oct 2009
the hotel is currently undergoing renovation. my standard room is good with it's newly renovated bathroom. however, my parents's room's bathroom has not been renovated yet & the bath tub is rusty. + my bathroom is not affixed with shelves for my toiletries & hooks for me to hang up my clothes while i shower.

for standard rooms, neither in-room safe nor hair dryer is provided.

however i must say tt my stay is comfortable & the saff is very helpful & friendly. thumbs up for good service!

Its located where all the shopping are and no problem on food. 7/11 is just outside. Staff is friendly and helpful. Have been slowly renovating their rooms for the past 1 year. Just wish they can do it faster as some of the rooms are still very old (like the one we stay in)

Jul 28, 2009

The hotel is nothing like the pictures on the website and beware of the standard rooms as they are really old and rundown. We immediately upgraded to the newly renovated deluxe room for an extra 500 baht a night. Location is close to Platinum Mall, which is the only reason to stay here. Shortcut to Siam Paragon was closed during time of visit. Even taxi drivers have a hard time finding the place so make sure you print out the map before you go.

Good choice for MBK fans.

by Daniel from Singapore

Jun 3, 2009

its location is the best part, being an easy taxi or bus ride to/from MBK, and walking distance from BTS Ratchathewi. the rooms and breakfast were OK for the price. most taxi drivers don't know the place though; suggestions are to call the hotel and have the staff talk to the driver, and once there to get its business card with the address in thai.

I actually dropped my phone on the taxi on the way to the hotel, i am very thankful that the receptionist was able to help me make numerous call to the airport to find out about the whereabouts of the taxi despite the busy times.

The location is great but many taxi drivers may not know the place well. The family rooms looks tired but functional and we could have do with more channels on tv.

No complain except that the floor is carpet so the cleaner did not vacuum my room during my stay.Overall, I must say the stay is a very happy one. Th staff is very helpful and always happy faced. the location is very good, 5-7 mins to pantip plaza and platimum. 10 mins to platunum. 20 mins to MBK, big C. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, it is great if you are on a medium budget and just after a comfortable place to have a shower, sleep and go. Great staff who are very helpful and friendly. It is at a great location and all the major shopping, food are within walking distance. I would recommend you to print out a copy of the address in Thai handy as it is not very well known to the locals!

Dec 28, 2008

The location of the hotel is not bad, walking distance to pratunam and BTS. Although the family suite comes with a kitchen equipe with cooker but too bad the cooker cannot be used. So no cooking is allowed. And also the beds comes with complimentary BED BUGs. At night, the hotel only left a trainee at the reception and it seem she is quite unfamilar with the hotel's operation. The advantage of this hotel is the free buggy service to Siam paragon.

Better hotels available for same price

by Aashish pai from Abu Dhabi

Nov 19, 2008

Stayed in a superior room for 3 nights. Very old room and furniture condition. Dirty carpets and stained walls. Bathroom very basic. Only one bedside table with pieces of sharp formica coming out, so be careful or you may hurt yourself. The mattress had springs which came out with no back support and I got a backache in the morning. Small 14 " TV had only 2 english channels. Split A/C in room is very old -looks like from the 70's era and has just on and off switch, without temperature control. So I had to get up in the night several times to switch on and off the A/C. The only good thing is the location which is close to the major shopping malls of Prathunam. Free 2 bottles of drinking water evry day. Food in restaurant quite good and reasonable rates and buffet Breakfast was satisfactory for the price. I think there are better hotels available in the vicinity for the same price.

I really appreciate the friendliness of the staff there. I touched down really late and was greeted in person at the reception. Sep 15, 2008

For shoppers, this is a good hotel to Pratunam/Platinum area, hawker stalls everywhere and just outside the hotel, 5 mins walk to Platinum and easy access to public transport, they have free buggy to MBK and Siam Centre from 10am - 10pm, good breakfast, friendly staffs, it just only the lift doesn´t operate sometimes and need to walk by staircase, over all it´s value for money!! Will stay there again!

Good location but old rooms

by Sue-Ann from Malaysia

Sep 5, 2008

The venue was very convenient due to the GemCart from Siam Paragon that took us close to Siam Paragon. The only problem with it was that it only started around 10am when the mall opened. So, if you wanted to go to Paragon before 10am, it would not be possible using the GemCart.

The hotel looked very nice from the outside and the service was very good. Unfortunately, the rooms did not really match the "look" of the lobby and the restaurant. The room we had was quite old and smelt of cigarette smoke. I expected the rooms to match the lobby and ground floor areas. The bathroom was also very old although it was quite clean.

I had requested an extra bed because we had 3 in our party and I did appreciate the fact that they gave us a "real" bed rather than a foldable one. That really allowed all of us to have a good sleep each.

The service was very good as the staff were always willing to help. Most hotels would charge extra for taxis to the airport but this hotel was willing to just help us call a regular taxi that charged us the metered rate to get to the airport.

Overall I would recommend the Residence Rajtaevee because of its convenience and price.

Good location but old room

by Tran Thi Ca Dao from Vietnam

Aug 4, 2008

The best thing I like is that the location. According to the maps even Google Earth, there is no road or pathway from the hotel to the Siam center but actually there´s a small street with a new bridge so it take just 3 minutes walk to the Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery. The hotel have free shuttle bus service too. Howerver you have to pass a gate which just opened from 10AM to 10PM. Over that time you have too walk about 15 minutes.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk and lobby area look new but room was very very old (compare to other hotels with the same price). Old carpet, old facilities, last-century-television and the windows opened to locals houses´ balcony. Breakfast was limited but quite good.
Stay here again just for shopping.

Overall, this place is not bad except that the rooms are a bit old but the beds are comfortable.

Location is ok, next to the Platimum mall where you can shop non-stop.

So far the hotel customer service I can say is good and about the room everything too ok. The only thing is that the stove is not working at all. Maybe repairing the stove would be a good idea especially for a family staying over.

Great Location

by Angela Chong from Singapore

Jun 11, 2008

Location was great and hotel has a very nice outlook and lobby. But rooms interior was not like the photos. Great value for money for non-fussy people. Toilets ceilings, bathtubs and doors could be improved as there is fungus and very worn out. Carpets should be changed as its very old. Nice big clean beds! Television was very small and had very little international channels. Cupboards were also very old and cranky already. Room service however was great! Food is cheap, efficient and fantastic! Service staff were also polite and friendly.

Only bad experience was when me and my fiance was checking out, there was a very friendly bellboy who offered to hail a cab for us to go to the airport. I told him we only paid 300baht upon arrival to the hotel on the first day. So i requested a taxi that would turn on the meter. He probably called his friend who arrived shortly and the bellboy told me it would be about 300baht. So we boarded the cab and i realised shortly the cabbie did not turn on his meter. He later claim that he would charged 400baht which i thought it was weird as it should NOT cost so much. However we gave in as we had a flight to catch and was not worth it to argue or bargain. Upon arrival, we did not have small change so gave him a 1000baht bill. He only returned us 400baht and was preparing to drive away! Unhappy, i stopped him as i thought he might have gave us the wrong change. He showed a smirk on his face, gave us a grin and said "no, its 600baht!" and drove off.

To me, it is not a big amount to pay for but i felt that what he did was unethical! Firstly not turning on the meter was already illegal. Secondly charging 600baht was really overboard. In other words i felt cheated.

To future travellers, do make sure you break your dollar notes into smaller denominations so you can just pay the exact amount without waiting for the "wrong" change.

This is my 2nd visit. My friend & I booked a Standard Twin Room, but on arrival, the hotel upgrade us to Family Suite (2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen & bathroom)without additional cost. I won´t say that it is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are rather old & wear out. The basin tap is loose, the toilet is almost flooded, the floor is broken, the beds are soft & shaky. Other than the above, I would highly recommend the hotel for its location. The location is very good (6 mins slow walk to the nearest BTS, 8 mins walk to Platinum Mall, free golf cart to Siam Centre, 5 mins Taxi to MBK without traffic jam is less than 40 Baht), negative about the location is there is always jam outside the main road. The air-conditional in the rooms are good & cool. Not much TV show selection. A cooling fridge in the kitchen. Will go back after they have finish their renovation.

i like the location of this hotel however, apart from one of the front desk which are more helpful and friendly. the rest is pretty much angry and not helpful.

housekeeping never replaced our towels every time they clean our room and when we asked for it. it took an hour before it arrived. we asked for hot water, they told us there are no room service for hot water, come down and collect for yourself.

Had quite a hard time each time taking a taxi/tutuk back to the hotel because the hotel location isn´t reflected on various maps. We stayed in the family suite with 2 bedrooms. It was big. But stove wasn´t working (you can request for a microwave). Air con was working fine. Big bathroom and living room. The floors were getting renovated so it was a little inconvenient to get to our room as there were sand and wires lying around. Overall the stay is superb, the staff are helpful.

service was good, but don´t expect any frills in terms of facilities. your own room at home would probably look a lot better than the hotel room itself. that said, u get what u pay for, and considering the excellent location and good breakfast, this is still value-for-money.

Excellent location but hotel a little too "old"

Hotel location is excellent. The shuttle service to Siam Paragon makes it even more convenient compare to other nearby hotels. Location is also close to major shopping areas. Breakfast reasonable. The Spa service was great with good value (must try). The internet kiosk was an added service to most travellers. Overall, the hotel provide good service except that the rooms were very old. The hotels need an upgrade and improvement of its room facilities. The TV cable choices could be better with more movies. If rooms facilities could be improved, and with it´s great location, it´ll make this budget hotel the best choice to stay in bangkok.

The hotel is just a walking distance to the nearest Rajhatewee BTS and accessible to Siam Paragon and other major shopping malls using the alternative hotel´s alley.

Worth a while staying and and its a good value for money. Perhaps the managerial has to spend an extra effort immediately to finding the MUSLIM food restaurants surroundings for the customer´s convenient.

Location is excellent, about 60bahts away from main clubbing venus and chinatown. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Would have been even better if shower heater was newer, mine had a problem controlling the temperature - just wasn´t consistant. Also beds need to be replaced soon. Overall, nice place to stay, value for money.

The rooms abit old but acceptable. Currently rooms are having a makeover, no noise & disturbance. Walking distance to Platinuim Mall & IT plaza and slightly further down is Central & ZEN. Not much nite entertainment unless you travel to Patpong by Taxi or Tut Tut

Not many taxi drivers know this place because it was located inside a "sub soi". I can walk to Skytrain station about 5-10mins and shopping centres is also within walking distances. Not many choices for TV channel and room´s furniture is old. Remember to ask for King size bed. The bed is really big size and comfortable! Not much choice for Breakfast.

It´s in good location, close to city centre.
However, the room is not so good, old, and air condition is loud.

The hotel room was clean but run down. There was this stinking smell when I checked in but thankfully, it only lasted a briefly and for the rest of my 3 days stay there wasn´t any. Staff aren´t very helpful but can converse in English. Location is ideal for Prantip Plaza and Pratunam markets but some walking is necessary. 10 minute walk to the BTS.Ideal for those who plan to spend all day out and only need the room for shower and rest.

+ Offers great location. Breakfast is basic. Staffs are helpful. Room is clean. Experience faulty heater in previous visit but 2nd trip resolved. 10 mins walk to BTS. Near Pantip and Platinium shopping. Opp Pratunam market.value for money.

- quite quiet in the night. Less food stalls found nearby. Petchaburi is a very busy road. No football channels for EPL fans.Hotel offers only 1 key to each room.

Four star lobby, one-star rooms.

by Rune from Norway

Nov 17, 2006

The first impression we got (from the lobby and the staff there) was very good. The staff were nice, very polite and spoke english well according to thai standards. The reception area was all very fancy, and we were sure we had gotten a bargain. But don`t get your hopes up. The rooms were motel quality at best, and certainly not a "threestar" like hotels2thailand suggested. We even had to change rooms, because the air condition in our room was either "off" or on complete refrigrator-mode.(gave me a sore throat after one night). The view was non-excistent, as the only thing we could see was a filty brick wall four feet from our window. The floor carpet was lumpy, the walls were dirty with wires hanging out, and the bathroom tiles were cracked. The only good thing was the gigantic bed, which must have been something like 8 feet wide. (too bad the matress was hard and the sheets had holes in them). The room we got instead was slightly better (air condition worked ok). The included breakfast was disappointing, as there was basically no thaifood, and was tasteless. It reminded me of a poor english breakfast buffè, with sausauges, scrambled eggs and from-the-box pancakes. (I guess some people like that.) The location was ok. It`s about 10 minutes walk to sky train. A cab to the major shopping centres (MBK, Siam Discovery etc)takes about 10 minutes. Twice in rush hour. Overall, the quality was lower than expected of a "threestar". It`s really a twostar hotel, IF you are lucky enough to get one of the good rooms. (I think some are better than others). It was liveable, but for the price you can get much better in Bangkok (we payed 900 baht/night). We stayed at different hotel called Samran Place earlier, which is only "twostar", but had MUCH nicer rooms (and the breakfast was great). We would reccommend Samran Place to The Residence any time.
