Grand Pacific Sovereign Resort & Spa Cha Am

This is a lovely property, really well appointed rooms and overall it is very nice -- lovely pool and a nice beach and chairs, if you can stand sitting out in the hot Thai sun in February. The sea view rooms in the tower are excellent and they have a small terrace that you can sit on as well as a daybed that views the property and the sea.
We ate in both the Italian restaurant, Cellestino, and the Chinese one. The Chinese one in particular had excellent dim sum.
What was extremely disappointing is that the spa is a concession and although we had four people in our party, only two of us were able to book massages (lack of therapists!), which are shared with another property. The massage we received was excellent so that staff is capable, but a big disappointment that we could not all be served.
Another odd thing about the property is that you cannot go from the lobby directly to the Italian restaurant or to the residence part of the facility without going outside the hotel! I don't know if this is a security issue or what, but it is really an odd setup.
Overall, I would recommend this property for is ambiance, but service was not outstanding in any way. One last note, the hotel is on the southern end of Cha-am as so you need to take a tuk tuk, which the hotel provides at fixed times or for a small fee at your convenience at other times, to reach the center of action.
