Cheap Internet policy

Cheap, greedy best describes the Internet connection policy of this hotel. By charging its guests 5 Euro for an hour of Internet connection, the management of the Chiang Mai Plaza hotel sticks its finger in its eye by aggravating and annoying its guests. If you book with agoda.com, be ready for hassles. Agoda grabs your money and debits your credit card as soon as you book. Should you decide to check out early, Chiang Mai Plaza management wont issue a refund for the unused portion of your reservation. They tell you to contact agoda. If you ask for a statement, Chiang Mai Plaza management refuses. I had to fight to have a signed piece of blank paper, with a hotel stamp, attesting to the date I checked out. Plus the arrogant louts wanted me to sign a discharge saying I abandoned my rights to a refund for the unused portion of my reservation. All other aspects of the hotel are recommendable – room size and cleanliness, combine to give the Chiang Mai Plaza a 3 out of 10 with its rating ruined by stupid charges, arrogance and front desk personnel who speak pidgin English. A word to the wise – free Internet access is available at a café 100 meters down the street from the hotel for the price of a cup of tea!

The hotel is wonderful, with a beautiful entrance and spectacular lobby area. The room was a good size with large bathroom and all the amenities. The breakfast in the hotel was very good and plentiful with a great choice.

I was recently in Thailand with my wife and daughter. My wife and I decided a small "run-away" trip to the north of Thailand and we chose Chiang Mai.
I had never been to Chiang Mai, so I didn´t know what to expect regarding hotel quality and pricing.
I searched the web, found Hotels2Thailand and started my search for hotels. I was recommended a couple of hotels by friends, but decided to let the Hotels2Thailand rating be the major factor when choosing the hotel. I narrowed the field down to Chiang Mai Plaza along with a couple of other hotels. After some thinking we decided that "Plaza" had to be a high quality. And the price for a spacious room was under 2,000 baht, so we maintained the "economy" aspect of the "run-away" trip.
So, we booked the hotel and payment and confirmation was handled swiftly by Hotels2Thailand.
**In the airport we changed plane and the pickup service was easily changed by Hotels2Thailand in a very professionel manner**
When we got to the hotel and entered, we could immidiately see that we had booked a 5-star hotel for the price of a 3½-star hotel. A very good deal indeed! The decor, the atmosphere, the two people playing traditional thai music in traditional local clothes when entering to the reception - which by the way was huge - was quite an experience.
In short, the first impression was fantastic and that impression lasted for the 4 days we were there.
The room was a little old, but functional and not worn down. The view over the city and the mountain with Doi Suthep could make anyone smile when waking up. (we lived on the 10th floor) and even looking down at the swimming pool to see if it was full was useful.
The staff was professional and very helpful. I can´t complain about the service. It was very good and always served with a smile. The level of english was quite good, but as my wife is Thai and I speak the language as well, we didn´t notice any linguistic problems.
The restaurant was only tried for the HUGE!! breakfast buffet. They had all - from toast to Fried rice, soup and fresh fruit.

I must say that it was one of my most surprisingly positive stays in a hotel for years and I recommend anyone to check in to Chiang Mai Plaza.

Next time we are in Thailand, we are going to Chiang Mai again, and Chiang Mai Plaza will be our choice of hotel again - for sure!!
