After staying 6 nights at this most friendliest of hotels in September 2006, I decided on having a full two week stay in April 2007.
I was met by courtesy transportation at Chiang Mai airport and on arrival at the hotel was met by Peter and Peppe (the owners)who, as usual were all smiles. I was shown to my suite (No. 6) which was a very light, airy room with all the facilities. One queen and one king bed, TV, mini bar/fridge, seating area, wardrobe, coffee making facilities,black out drapes, a most efficient air conditioner and a large double sinked bathroom with a tub/shower, bidet etc.
Peppe went out of her way (as usual) to create the most delicious Thai cuisine I have ever tasted. Her staff worked long hours preparing exotic dishes which all ofthe guests thoroughly enjoyed.
The city of Chiang Mai is about a 15 minute drive away and Peppe often drives guests in for the night market or Kantoke dinner shows. Taxis are cheap costing about 300 Baht one way. Becausethe hotel is located in the country some cab drivers do not know where it is, but you can arrange for the driver who drops you off to either pick you up at a certain time or ask for his mobile number.
Waking up at Golden Cupids is usually associated with neighbouring roosters greeting the morning and the twitter of birds having breakfast. No car horns or noisey trucks to disturb the peace.
Out in the back garden is the refreshing pool, massage area and herbal steam room.
The staff were so friendly and instantly welcomed me into their family group and we all became great friends with lots of laughter. Because this hotel is small, the guests all interact also and all team up for day trips which Peppe organises. You end up going home after making friends from places like the USA, Australia, UK, Germany, Malaysia etc.
I am so besotted with the hotel that I plan on returning for my third holiday there in September 2007.
I highly recommend Golden Cupids Hotel.
