Fab resort, with villas with amazing views
by Angela from Manchester
Jan 24, 2012
The Sea View villa was fantastic, was the top room available and it was fantastic value, given what we paid in other top hotels - the views could not be matched....sunken bath/double sinks and the most amazing sea view when you work up in the morning.
Not that impressed with the breakfast service...no covers for food, which is basic hygiene, but I would not let that influence greatly what was a fab resort (mainly for our room)

Quiet location. Beautiful views and infinity pool.
by Brenda Robinson from United Kingdom

Hotel Chai Chet Resort on quiet headland just away from the more developed areas. Attractive sandy beach with good views. Comfortably warm infinity pool. Good breakfast choices. Clean, comfortable rooms. Downside was the litter on the beach area where the other hotels located, so dangerous for marine life when washed out to sea. No bins provided anywhere on beach and no-one collecting it.

One of the best Thai resort hotels I have ever stayed at

Having set my heart on visiting Koh Chang, I am so pleased with the experience which I had at the Chai Chet Hotel.
Once you have gotten to the island, which is a bit of a distance from most of Thailand, and an exhausting trip, this hotel made up for it in so many ways. The room overlooked a small private (rocky) beach and you could sit there on a sun-lounger or a swing and watch the sun go down. The main sandy beach was not busy and just a minute's walk away, with plenty of fresh ffod and drink vendors available but no hawkers disturbing your relaxation.
The room wasn't very special, but all I needed was somewhere to shower and sleep, and it was comfortable enough, with a wide range of cable TV channels available and a big double bed.
The gardens in which the hotel is set are beautifully kept and the staff were so helpful and friendly. The pool was great and there was never a shortage of big wide sunbeds with soft matresses and parasols, and there was an unlimited supply of towels.
The food in the restaurant was cheap and tasty and I ended up eating most of my meals there.
The busier White Sands beach and "town" is just five minutes up the road by taxi, costing about 100 baht each way if you need to find some action, but I was looking for something quieter, and this place really hit the spot for me.
If you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway or a relaxing family holiday, this hotel is perfect.

A destination to be remembered!
by Ian from London

We turned up and we're originally offered a bungalow on the hillside. After some haggling we secured a new grand villa overlooking the bay and the mountains. What a room! Clean and luxurious! The pool was fantastic. After a week on Phi phi with amazing beaches this was complete seclusion and privacy. Really helpful staff. You can hire a bike from the hotel. Only gripe was the wine selection wasn't great (don't get me wrong we drank beer but I ordered a bottle after proposing in the pool!!) Would definately go back and would recommend grand villas

I did like the very nice pool with comfortable shares. The Location of the bungalow can be better because of the wild sea in July-August but a five minutes walk and you´re on the quite beach where you can rent a sea kayak and row to the nearby islands.

The Last Resort

Whilst the bungalows themselves and the location were good the staff were the most unfriendly and unhelpful I have ever come across in my many trips to Thailand. There are numerous petty rules which are in place to make their life easier rather than enhance your stay. The management are stingy (e.g.they have only subscribed to the free crap cable channels)and I don´t think I saw a smile from them the whole two weeks I was there. We will definitely not stay again and there are plenty of nicer, cheaper and better equipped alternatives in the vicinity. This should only be used as a last resort!!

The Last Resort

Whilst the Chai Chet Bungalows are fine and the location pretty good (if you ignore the fact the location of their car park ruins the view) the service and hospitality are very poor. The place is full of petty regulations designed to make their life easier rather than enhance your experience and we got the impression that the management were extremely money grabbing. This place is bad value, a good example being that you only get the free crap cable channels! There are plenty of cheaper, nicer and better equipped bungalow operations in the local area and I would only use this place as a last resort.

Wonderful nature, great atmosphere
by Steen Schapiro from Copenhagen, Denmark

My girlfriend and I were extremely happy with our stay at Chai-Chet Bungalows. The rooms were great, bungalows surrounded by wild, beautiful nature. There is no pool, but a beach nearby, a nice hotel restaurant, and good shops and dining places 10 minutes from there. The mood is definitely more bohemian and nature-loving than touristy or superficial. We would love to return someday.

We liked the location and the view on the garden and the ocean we had from our room.
The service was also very good and the staff is very nice and friendly.
I certainly come back again!

Bungalows in beautiful gardens
by Ann Daglish from Bellegarde, Provence, France

We stayed at Chai Chet for 3 weeks in Jan 2005 and are about to go back there in December. It´s a stunning location, beautiful gardens, lovely beach. Room was simple, but very clean, great view from the balcony. Sorry folks, we werent impressed with the breakfasts or the one evening meal we had at the restaurant, but there are some good eateries a couple of minutes walk up to the main road. Having said that, we would recommend Chai Chet to anyone and at about 15 GBP per night it´s a real bargain!
