I have stayed at Saikaew villa many times and it is my favourite chill out beach destination in Thailand.
The accomodation is perfectly adequate being basic but clean. The white sand beach directly in front of the hotel is beautiful. There are beach chairs and umbrellas -the only downside are the daily flocks of Russian tourists who take over but they are entertaining with their ways and dress sense!!
Have a wander down the long beach and find a quiet bar, spend some money throughout the day on food and drink and they will probably not charge you for chairs and umbrellas.
There is a huge 7-11 at the back of the hotel where you can buy almost anything to stock your room fridge up at good prices.
Not a shopping place - so good if you are taking a friend!!!
Take some books and relax.
The Ploy fish restaurant serves excellent seafood as well as BBQ Pork chops, corn on the cob, baked potatoes etc. The Thai crab curry is fantastic as is the BBQ squid and prawns.
There is a caberet fire show at night as well as music and a pub.
I live in Thailand but visit here 2 or 3 times a year.

I have stayed at Saikaew Villa many times and always return there. The location is perfect 50 mtrs from the beautiful white sand beach.
The rooms are adequate 'Thai' -style that means basic but comfortable.
Great place to chill out but now being spoiled by Russian day trippers from Pattaya who have all the beach chairs reserved for them.

The rooms ( the old ones, did`nt see the new ones) were ugly and uncomfortable. The stuff were not kindly and could not speak english so well. The rate of those rooms I had was too high, because they were old and dirty. In Thailand, for exampe in Koh Samui or Koh Chang you can get much better for less money. I was very dissappointed. Also the prices are doubled when you prefer them in the Mainland. I came from Sri Racha where I forexsample could have thai massage 1 h / 120bth, and it was a good one. I`M never coming back to Koh Samet again. I go somewhere else in the beautiful and friendly Thailand.
