The Santiburi Samui Country Club is Koh Samui’s first golf course and provides both challenge and charm with a lush tropical setting. The 18-hole championship golf course came to fame when it hosted the 2006 Bangkok Airways Open. It is located on a hillside of northern coast of Koh Samui, amidst old coconut gardens. The golf course has a commanding scenic panoramic view of Maenam Beach and the nearby island of Koh Phangan. Golfers are able to enjoy these magnificent views of the ocean and beaches from almost all holes. Waterfalls and creeks run through the land adding lush, natural beauty with the hills providing a picturesque backdrop.

Each of the 18 holes at Santiburi Samui Country Club has its own unique character and challenges. From steep uphill and downhill slopes to winding fairways that are cut into the forest and meander around cliffs and streams, Santiburi Samui Country Club is one of the most unique Thailand golf courses.

Greens which run very fast are constructed from Tifeagle grass, the same variety used at the Thai Country Club in Bangkok. New shade resistant Sea Isle Paspalam is used on the tees and fairways which insures good playing conditions year round.

The golf course starts off the first few holes playing through a mature coconut forest and then progresses up the mountain. The fairways follow the natural line of the hills, creating an interesting and challenging golf game. Rock outcroppings found on several holes also adds to the challenge.

Due to this being a mountainous course. You do not need a driver on every hole. If you play from the proper tee, this course rewards accuracy not distance. The Koh Samui golf course requires a golf cart to get up and down he steep mountain slopes. Small fairways are the order of the day on most holes, but the large greens make approach shots a little easier.

The luxury clubhouse provides comfortable changing rooms, a well stocked pro shop and a restaurant with beautiful terrace seating to recount your round while enjoying the surrounding scenery just a little while longer.

I have played over 30 of the worlds top100 courses ( golf digest 2005 listing) and belong to the # 9 ranked National Golf Club of Canada}. This course is a top 25 in the world and a must play if you are in Thailand. We also played Blue Canyon which is also a great course but is not as good as this one.The elevation changes are unmatched at any other course ive seen or played.Simply put, outstanding!!

Although I am new to golf, and my first ever game was played up at Santiburi golf course, the word fantastic springs to mind. I now play in the Network samui golf tournament, which is played on the last Thursday of each month. What a great tournament. Next one is Thursday 27th July To sign up for the next tournament contact info@networksamui.com

Played this course twice and had pretty bad scores both times, but amazing course. Fantastic views and scenery as well as interesting and challenging holes. Very difficult to get used to the extreme elevation changes and the caddies aren't much help to be honest. Compulsory carts are necessary due to the nature of the place. Although I actually don't like carts.

Played 2 rounds in mid-July. What a fantastic design - goes into my "Must Play" category. Every hole is interesting and challenging. Unless you are a long and accurate hitter (narrow fairways!), you are better off playing off the White tees. Spectacular views! Is pricey - but it does include a caddy and a buggy for each golfer - and you will need it given the frequent change in elevation!

The course condition is very good. Speed is high. 3 hours to finish 18 holes. Caddie's english is very poor. She can't tell me the situation. Expensive relative to other courses in Thailand but it is somehow the only one in Samui.

played here in october 2004 and found it to be not only an excellent test of golf but surely the most spectacular course i have played. expect to find yourself heavily penalised for wayward shots and pack plenty balls in your bag as you will be doing well to get round without losing a few. quite expensive by thai standards but definitely worth it. speed of play was very quick, possibly because we played in the afternoon in 35 degree heat, but got the overall impression that the course was generally quite quiet. if i had one word to describe it i would say - AWESOME!!

This course is really amazing - played it twice (January and September 04)- and yet to beat it but still incredible to play this one..but not a course for high hcp - too difficult. One made a comment about the caddies as being bad - I think they are wonderful. I had a round of golf with the spectacular Bryan Saltus (what a swing he got) . Im going back to beat it - and im sure I will play it many times .

I played only the first 9 holes here, and although this course is expensive, I would have to say it is worth the price. The course is located on a hillside near the middle of Samui Island, so there are many extreme elevation changes on the course which makes it very scenic and challenging to play. It would be a very difficult course to walk, so driving carts are mandatory. You can see the ocean in the distance from some of the course's vistas. The greens, fairways, and bunkers were all in very good condition. The caddie was solid. I played on a Monday, and I never saw another group in front of me the whole round... it was like I was the only one playing the course.

Such a stunning course, shamefully & vertually unused on a daily basis. Stylish clubhouse and excellent shower & changing facilities. The scenic beauty attracts but heavy prices detract.

clearly the equal of any golf course that i have played in thailand. at 4070 baht for game cart and caddie i thought very reasonable because this is a majestic experience. great first nine but what a brilliant back nine as we climb higher and higher. some serious par threes and a couple of fantastic par fives. all fair, nothing tricky. forget about any negative reviews about this work of art, just play it. the designer has done his job well. a fantastic place for a 'golfer'.

Greens spiked and heavily sanded at the minute. Caddies hit and miss. Excessively overpriced. A couple of holes almost unplayable. Monopoly golf course, new 9 hole course coming soon to Lamai Phewwww

I played it end of July. It has plenty of scenic views and elevatation changes. It is great layout but has "NO" landing areas. The course is still raw. I would not want to play on a breezy day. The course condition was great but I would rather play Blue Canyon.
