We have just returned from an eight day stay at Centara Villas and had a wonderful time. The reception staff and in fact waiters, housekeepers were all very polite and friendly. If we go to Samui again, I would check out this hotel and have recommended it to friends.

great hotel for use only as a base

FIRSTLY THE HOTEL,staff and location are great,it has 3 pools but only one was used by most people it has a small but cleran soft sand beach in front of hotel which is very private and perfect for relaxing on,THE BEST THING THOUGH IS A LITTLE SMALL BEACH HUT TO THE LEFT OF THE HOTEL WHICH IS OWNED BY NI AND WHAT A FANTASTIC TIME WE SPENT THERE,BEERS ARE HALF THE COST IN THE HOTEL,COCKTAILS THE SAME,AND IF YOU ARE FEELING HUNGRY THEY HAVE A MENU FROM THE LOCAL RETRAUNT CALLED BARRACUDA WHERE THEY WILL RING AN ORDER FOR YOU AND IT ARRIVES ON BIKE,(barracuda and fishermans are 2 restraunts outside of hotel and less than half the price for food and drinks in hotel,)when we got to our room i fell in love, deluxe villa,4 poster bed,sun loungers on terrace, amazing,we opened the fridge and it was fully stocked, lovely until i looked at the prices then we never touched it,haha.
the bad things about the hotel is the cost of things while there,a bottle of beer in the bars cost 120bt about 2.40 sterling, and in the shop 35bt?? food was the same over priced but tasty, the hotel is built into a hillside so wheelchair users unfortunatley i would avoid,as very steep
the location is 15 mins by taxi to lamai beach which is quite nice ,busy and not as relaxings as natien, the shopping there is great,,and well worth a visit, you can get everything from t- shirts to cosmetic surgery, upto about midnight also of course are the street bars, where girls of all shape size and colour try to get you to sit for a drink, which is quite fun but be careful as if you sit and a girl sits with you they expect to have a drink bought, and your may cost 70 baht theres will be 90 baht?,but we did it just for the buzz,it was funny.
30 mins from the hotel is chaweng beach (HAS A SISTER HOTEL CALLED CENTARA GRAND BEACH WHICH IS AVAILABLE TO USE FREE)and town, abit busier than lamai but seems to close at 12,the shopping was easier to barter and i found the stuff abit better, there are some lovely bars to sit and chill in,THE WAVE which is owned by two lads from london and also has rooms to let above is a must, full of information for tourists and helpful hints, great priced drinks and food, and a toilet door that is amazin???,also the duke which is down the main street, has a fantastic pool seating area go see and enjoy.we also went roeund the local markets at chaweng where you can try soem great local produce from fruit to insects, meat fish and buy designer sun glasses for a pound?
another little hint DONT TAKE TO MUCH MONEY FROM YOUR COUNTRY WITH YOU AS WE GOT 49BT TO THE POUND FROM OUR TRAVEL AGENTS AND AS SOON AS WE ARRIVED AT THE AIRPORT IN BANGKOK AND ON SAMUI YOU CAN EXCHANGE AT 53+BT,so just take small amount with you,if any.
we found this a very nice hotel
THE people staying here were friendly and courteous the staff great cleanliness excellent only wish they had a stairlift,as some times walking up flights and flights of stairs in 30 degree heat was to much.ENJOY

This hotel is really only suitable for people who just want to stay by the pool. There´s a free shuttle bus to the much better located beach resort but it´s not really good for going out in the evening.

I have stayed in many hotels throughout Thailand. Most recently I was in Phuket. Koh Samui has it best. The Central Village is away from the crowds, but a short scooter ride from several villages/cities. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I have just returned from Central Samui Village (20/3/06 - 4/3/06), and all I can say it that we had a fabulous time, great friendly staff. Peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle. We can´t wait to go back.
