Fantastic Resort

Me and my family with small children stayed there in October 2011. It is an excellent resort with huge, clean rooms, walk in bathroom and a nice balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful for any requests. Every morning they let our 20 months old son feed the fish in the pond, which he really loved. Simple Life Resort is just a minute walk from the beach promenade and just a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Since we had our 20 month son with us, it was great to have an huge room for him to play around with. We also received a baby cot free of charge. There is also free wireless internet connection and complimentary drinking water every day. The pool was small, but ok. The restaurant had friendly staff, but they all should take a few english lessons along with the front desk staff.

We stayed 9 days at the Simple life resort. The room and bathroom were big sized and clean and the hotel had mostly friendly staff. We were picked up at the port without asking for nor expecting it. The hotel also includes a complimentary drop off and free internet access. Breakfast was very poor and the restaurant has very loud disco music all day long so it is not very nice. They had a small swimming pool we never used as it was not very appealing. Close to the beach, bars and restaurants but quite quiet at night.

We stayed 9 days at the Simple life resort. Our room was great, huge bathroom nicely designed. Balcony over looking the garden.
Most of the staff were absolutely delightful, truly Thai charming and gracious. We enjoyed talking to them very much.

The hotel was within a 5-9 min walking distance to all the main bars and restraunts and the hotel staff were great in helping us to arrange sight seeing trips around the island. We enjoyed ourselves here, staff are not in your face, you are free to enjoy your space and to come and go when you want. There is a 24-hour staffed desk where a friendly face welcomes you when you roll in during the early hours.

Worst for Thais

by from Thailand

May 24, 2010

We stayed at The Simple Life Resort for 4 days/3 nights. And here below is all the truth I would say. All I can say is this is the worst resort hotel I’ve ever stayed.
1st day:
- I waited to get into the room until almost 2 pm., but that’s fine. As soon as I walked into the room, the floor was still very wet, odor (smell of toilet), and there was very strong smell of insecticide every day since there were so many mosquitoes.
- Noise of every day and all day construction.
- Room's quality is worst compare to the price.
- Staffs are the worst. Very rude and impolite, especially to Asians tourists.
- There were no cotton buds, no toothpaste provided.
- No bed sheet changed in every single day. Let say, if you stay for 3 nights, you’ll have to endure with entire same bed sheet set.

2nd day:
- Housekeepers came to clean the room, but the quality of cleaning was still the worst just like on the first day; odor, wet floor, very strong smell of insecticide (We had to open all windows and door in order to let the wind flow into the room otherwise we would have to inhale full of insecticide into our lungs!), no shower towels provided (We realized this after we’d finished taking shower!), shampoo and bath gel bottles were empty since the housekeepers didn’t filled them up…
- So, I had no idea what had housekeepers done with the room when they came to our room.
- We never asked for things in one time and got it. We needed to “beg” for their favors or things at least twice (normally more than twice).
- We had to request the officers for shower towels, beach towels, and filled up shampoo/bath gel.
- Every times we requested for things or services that we should received (but we never received), the housekeepers always showed unhappy faces and said inappropriately things that hotel officers should not react. We felt like we had to “beg” them everything while we paid for everything!
3rd day:
- We went out in the morning and came back for rest at the room around noon. About 6 housekeepers knocked the door and asked if I needed them to clean the room. I left the room for them. When we came back for taking shower before dinner, we found (again, they left a damn strong insecticide smell for us) that shampoo and bath gel bottles were empty as usual. Luckily, I brought mine.
- Before going for dinner, we asked officer at the counter to fill up shampoo and bath gel with our expectations that when we came back, those bottles would be filled up and ready to be used. Unfortunately, when we came back, all bottles were still exactly the same as before we left for dinner….
- My friends needed to move the room twice due to the room problems.
4th day:
- In the early morning (around 7.30 am – 8.00 am), I was waken up by the noise of the same 6 housekeepers that came to clean the room next door. I didn’t understand why they had to shout while cleaning the room. Also, there was a sound of slamming doors all the time they were cleaning the room.
- At the time of checking out, the officer told us to pay extra charge for 500 Baht. I accept that it was our mistakes to make a little stain on the bed sheet. However, we told him it was so easy to wash it only one time with breach or soap. He seemed neither to understand nor realize what breach was. All the conversation, the officer never smile and behaved very rude to us. He didn’t even look as our faces while we were talking. So, we told him we would clean the bed sheet by ourselves. We just used soap and water, that’s it. Just like students, we show him a clean bed sheet after that. He just looked at the bed sheet by the eyes tail and didn’t say anything. He didn’t even take the bed sheet from our hands, just sat in the chair. So, I walked behind the counter he sat and threw the bed sheet into the office, and then we left the resort. The officers didn’t even open their mouths and said “good bye” or “Thank you” to us and my friends (customers). Only my friends said thank you to them, but no response at all.
Only two good things: 1) Breakfast is provided from 7.30 am – 1.00 pm.
2) Located in the middle of community
To be honest, I have never ever had any problems with any hotel/resort. I couldn’t find any service mind in this place since the first day I stayed ‘till I left. I don’t think I’m too picky for this price of the resort. The resort’s quality is very under standard. Not only I complain about this resort, but there are still other tourists complain the same as I do. I used to read the review before I booked the room, but at that time I didn’t thought that it would be such this worst. If anyone will book the room, I would suggest them stay at the cheaper accommodations, but better services. Save your money for the better things. Don’t spend much money for the bad quality, it doesn’t worth it.
