I liked the location and the tranquil beach. Only a handful on the beach but it was june. The staff were friendly with good english, always near hand but never in your face.Chinese restaurant on second floor excellant and beach bar food great and reasonable. Would go back but have a lot more world to see!

We enjoyed everithing, really:room, food, gym, SPA and beauty salone.
What we disliked: too large pillows, but this is of not so much importance.

Great Room and Excellent Service
by Richard Hearn from Connecticut, USA

Ocean view room was very comfortable and quite spacious. Staff were all attentive and very helpful. The only slight negative was that the restaurants were somewhat impersonal (although Indian restaurant was an exception). Recommend going downtown for a better (and cheaper) meal

Excellent place to forget work

Very complete resort. You need not go elsewhere (plenty of food choices on the premises), but if you choose to, convenient drive of 5 min to centre of pattaya where it all happens, they say.

Not worth the money

1. Terrible location. If you don´t have plans to go into down and walk along Beach Road, then maybe this is a place for you.
2. Terrible staff. For the 2 full days I was there, I did not see a single smile on their staff´s faces. The only time I was greeted with a "Sawadeeka" was when I visited Royal Wing & Spa with my significant other, and my only explanation for being greeted was because they were trying sell us their spa treatments. (This is a complete opposite of my experience when I stayed here in 2005.)
3. Lots of trash on the beach and in the water.
4. I have great respect for the Thai culture. But the whole experience there made me think less of the Thai people. It´s definitely not a "make you feel at home" hotel, but rather, "I´m your best friend if you got money; otherwise, good luck."
5. Simply a terrible experience. It completely erased fond memories of my first stay.

Highly impressed

We loved this hotel - we stayed in the Grand section and it was true 5 star.Devine views from a big balcony - plenty of room and a huge luxurious bathroom with all the trimmings. The staff and service were amazing as were the facilities - heavenly pools. Ate at the Indian restaurant - incredible service and atmosphere. Caught the hotels Mercedes limo to downtown Pattaya - cost a pittance but made us feel like kings. Highly impressed and would stay again in a flash :)

Disappoint
by Adam from United Kingdom
Nov 4, 2005
I stayed at Royal Cliff Beach Resort for 2 days October 2004 - the front desk staff on arrival were indifferent and surly; the hotel itself is beginning to smell old and damp; the standard deluxe room was large but worn looking and characterless and notably missing several ´standards´ such as tea or coffee, or dressing gowns. The hotel is quite a way from the main road - up a hard-walking hill - and then some to the nearest shops etc., yet the hotel has no shuttle bus and even smugly presents the limo service which will cost minimum 500bht even if you just want to go the 3 mins drive to the nearest shop to get a paper! For the price I paid through, you can get much better. I´d highly recommend the Marriott in Pattaya instead, for not much more bucks but a LOT more class, style and service.
