Stayed for 3 nights in Feb 09 (no rain) and had a wonderful time. The location is great big are and private beach. Service is excellent throughout the hotel from the restaurant staff to reception- nothing is too much trouble and everyone really friendly. Their rooms in Tai traditional style are gorgeous and we loved the infinity pool. ..........Reccommend this hotel

Found this hotel while surveing the coast line north of Phuket on Google Earth. Surprised to find this little pearl on the Island of Kor Khao.
We were at first at little worried about going to an island so fiercefully hit by the tsunami four years ago. The hotel was to be opened for the first time 30th dec, but only five days before the tsumani hit. I guess others have been worried to because the hotel has struggled the first years.
We asked frankly about this and were eased by the answer. The hotel is built from stone and all buildings remained standing after the tsunami. Of course they were damaged and most of the hotel had to be completely restored before opening a year later. Water came to one meter over the lobby floor. The hotel floor over the lobby level is big enough for both guests and staff to stay temporarily, should there be a tsunami warning. So we felt safe.
Located on the beach we found the hotel very quiet and serene. We stayed in a beach side villa with the ocean right outside the door and where lulled to sleep every night by the calm, regular surf.
Food is affordable and excellent and service impecable. Menue varies from thai to western. Mostly thai style. Lots of seafood.
Two nights there were parties where huge buffé with lobster, tiger prawns, pork, meat and fish, all prepared before your eyes, casseroles of various kinds and greens and fruits were served. There was entertainment by local orchestras and dancers and also by a western style singer. All for 750 Baht per person.
Lot of facilities are supplied free of charge, such as Internet service in the lobby, tennis court with balls and rackets, pool table and table tennis. Even yourhurts are supplied free from a fridge in the lobby.
Every day we had massage in the hotels parlor. No reason to go to the beach for it when prices are the same, and quality and cleanlyness are so much better inside the hotel.
They obviously stretch themselves to give good service.
This hotel may have only 4 stars, but to us it is clearly worth five stars and we would prefer this to many five star hotels we have visited before.

Beautiful hotel in a lovely
by adam from London

Summary:
Beautiful hotel in a lovely isolated location ideal for a honeymoon. More than a week could get boring.
Positives:
Rooms first class, large, comfortable, luxurious, immaculate.
Whole place feels very luxurious.
Restaurant food quality very good.
Pool area very nice. Pictures don't do it justice.
Service very friendly. Generally good but room for improvement.
Lovely long beach pretty much deserted. Just as you would imagine.
Prices for food and drink not bad (2 of us spent £250-300 in a week on lunch, dinner and all drinks)
Quiet peaceful location
On the negative side:
Restaurant menu is limited.
At certain times the beach right in front of hotel disappears due to tide though access to the rest of the beach is still possible. This only affects the beach right in front of the hotel.
Hotel is in desperate need of more guests. We were there for a week and there were never more than four or five rooms occupied. This does feel a little strange but was not really a problem.
Island is very isolated with ferry access and only 1 restaurant and about 5 hotels. About 30 minutes in a taxi to Khao Lak "town".
Not an awful lot to do while there
One of the reception staff barely spoke any English.
