Mountain Resort Koh Lipe Reviews

After I booked this hotel, I found the website tripadvisor and read about many bad reviews about Mountain Resort. I was worried, but it turned out to be a great stay!

The service is good, room is clean and nice, with the superb sea view (we stayed at deluxe room on hill). The hotel staff fetched us from the custom, and when we wanted to go to Walking Street they fetched us there with a buggy. You can call them to fetch you back to hotel but there is no line for our mobile so we thought to walk back (you will have to pass by a very dark muddy road with long grasses at the side), but the hotel staff was already there waiting for us and fetched us back. We are surprised that they can recognize us while we can't.

The food there is so so only, but surprisingly the porridge during breakfast is quite nice. There is no water boiler in the room so you can't make any hot drinks. They provide complimentary bottled water for 2 days we stayed there. You can also rent snorkeling mask from them at 50 Baht only.

The beach outside the resort is clean and no long tail boats parking there like in other beaches. There are more than 10 beach lounges and before we checked out we saw a truck delivering more lounges to the beach. Too bad you can't see sunset nor sunrise there.

One downside is that the staff can hardly speak English. There is one ladyboy Jenny who can speak some English, and a Malay man (forgot to ask his name) who can speak good English but he's not from the reception counter (we always see him talk to foreigners during breakfast time).

Overall, I recommend this resort :)

The hotel itself is ok, view is good with a wonderful beach on which u can see both sunrise and sunset. However, the service they provide is poor,expecially those staffs working in the restaurant,no smiles, looks like they are very unhappy to work there and unwilling to serve u.
if u r gonna hit the island, go to Serendity or Zita,they r worth ur money~

too many dogs around during meals.

My family has visited Koh Lipe for the past 3 years and have always stayed at Mountian Resort. They seem to get progressively worse each year. The service is soo terrible or non existant that they might as well be a do-it-yourself resort. the beach was a mess and we were greeted with shrugs when asked about it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

The view was amazing. Staff very slovenly and at times rude. Constant noise from boats sounded like next door to a building site. We were there for 7 nights and the room wasn't cleaned once although we asked it to be. Breakfast awful. Would not stay there again.We stayed in the most expensive huts and must say apart from the view it was way overpriced.

The deluxe room is fantastic with the ocean view. Food is good and portion is big. The massage center on the beach is fantastic.

We had the opportunity to stay at mountain resort during a busy weekend. It was very crowded an hard to get a room, although we didnt get the room we wanted (need to book early) we were very happy with the fan room. The view was spectacular and the food was fantastic. Fresh seafood overlooking the bay is spectacular.
The resort is only a quick walk up some stairs, not the 10-minute hike that was posted earlier.
I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great holiday, but RESERVE EARLY.
