Great hotel in the middle of no where

Excellent hotel and facilities. Very very quiet location with nothing much around outside the hotel. Rooms expensive considering the amount of empty rooms ALWAYS available. My partner and i were the only 2 there on one night. Great fitness room, pool and spa's. Reasonable food prices in the restaurants.

Ostentatious but fails to deliver

Like:
* Beautiful grounds and buildings.
Dislikes:
* No in-room wi-fi
* No in-room safe
* In the middle of nowhere, so there is no escape if you do not have your own transport. (A taxi will cost yoy 700 Baht per hour.)
* Chalet room somewhat run-down (the electric heater for the shower water kept cutting out, the "bum gun" hose leaked etc.)
* The room smelled of the chickens in the grounds just outside
* Limited English spoken by staff
* The cleaners left my chalet door open one day
* Hardly any guests in this huge resort. On my last (of 3) days, I was the only guest in the whole place. It was quite creepy at night in the chalet with animals scratching on the roof/walls!

Incredible Resort

I stayed here for about a week, and had a very relaxing time. Between the large statues all over the place, the beautiful pool, the free internet, and the fantastic restaurants, I had a wonderful time. I am sure if this place was next to a large airport, rather than being a 2-hour drive from bangkok, it would always be booked to capacity. 250 acres, with a golf course, etc. I cannot wait to go back next February, with 6 of my friends from the states.
