Dream World Bangkok
2.1K Review(s)
Dreamworld
Dreamworld is an amusement park for 1 to 12 year olds, with a few rides for older kids. We spent a day there, and our eight year old had a fun time. I’m giving Dreamworld a mixed review.
Overall value: fair to middling. The hotels 2 Thailand ticket price was excellent, and included a “tour group” all you can eat buffet. Use Hotels 2 Thailand – great turn-around on the voucher, and easy to process on arrival (go to the information room, not the front ticket booth). Don’t buy at the door (it’s not worth the full admission price).
When to go: mid-week.
Getting there: options are take a tour or take buses / van service. Dreamworld’s posted bus instructions are wrong. Either take an air conditioned van from Mo Chit bus terminal (a good distance from the Mo Chit BTS) to Future park mall, and then a taxi to Dreamworld, or take a private van from victory monument to the park. Return the same way. Tour buses are easier in one sense, but don’t give you as much time at the park. However, if you don’t speak Thai, you’ll probably want to use the tour bus. Taking buses / vans is the MUCH less expensive overall option.
Park’s condition: The gardens are well maintained and quite lovely. You’ll find a lot of peeling paint, and it looks and feels well worn. I’d say the rides are safe, but used. Bathrooms are quite clean, with the best being near the lake.
General impression: got to keep it all in context. For a kid from Bangkok who would never have been anywhere else, Dreamworld would be heaven. For anyone who’s been to Disney, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, etc., you’d be looking at a C- park that does its best to copy a lot of most parks’ popular features. Except for the gardens which are cute, imaginative, lovely, and very well maintained, the result is poorly derivative – ranging from head scratchers to carnival sideshow quality to real attempts at quality attractions that just don’t quite make it, and just plain not that well kept. But, you’ll have fun if you aren’t too critical, and your kids will likely not know the difference. For about $10 US, (through hotels 2 Thailand) you can’t go too wrong. We’re glad we went, but we won’t plan to go again.
Rides: There’s a good selection of different types of rides. The Grand Canyon is a water rapids ride on which you will get drenched. Fortunately, it’s Thailand, and you’ll be dry in an hour. It’s tame, but fun. The sky coaster has one of the most comfortable suspension seats I’ve ever ridden (I’m 6’2”), but the ride is the tamest large coaster I’ve ever ridden. The haunted house is low-end walk-through carnival sideshow quality, but it will scare the eight and under crowd, while giving the adults unintended laughs. The giant’s house is dusty, musty, and a real head scratcher. “Space Mountain” is a total knock-off of Disney’s Space Mountain, its audacity matched only by its exceptionally low quality. The building looks like a permanent tent, and during the ride you can see light shining through gaps between tent and ground. It’d have been a fun roller coaster outdoors. The monorail was okay. The train was typical, and fun. The playport was great. One nice feature is that it is really well controlled, so we felt our son was safe playing in it. We didn’t do snow town, as we know what snow is, so didn’t feel like paying extra. Speedy Mouse is okay – small but fun. Paddle boats are quite good. Bumper boats we’re being renovated, and that’s one ride we wished had been open. Antique cars were fun, but be aware – no seatbelts. Super splash was closed, but looked pretty tame, though you’ll likely get soaked there as well. The overhead gondola car ride gave a great view of the park and surrounding area, but for some reason – it’s round trip, not point to point.

Fun for Children and Adults
I like the beautiful landscapes and rides. The buffet lunch was good and value for money.
I dislike that several rides were closed for routine maintenance when we went there. The maintenance could be carried for one ride at a time so that visitors would not miss out too many riders.
