When I arrived to this hotel, 3staff were looking at me, coming in to the hotel under the hot heat, dragging my heavy suitcase all the way towards them, they were just looking with no smile or greets. Is this a 5 star hotel? At check in, they just keep asking for my paid voucher. Im on a trip, how could I print out my voucher from my mail account. Do I need to carry a printer with me to overseas? Checkin took 40 minutes, after all I had a room which was at the end of the hotel which I again had to drag my bag along all way under the heat, (the staff give me the room key, and pointed saying “overthere”).
They said the hotel was grand opened December 2009, but 5 months after, I see nothing is finished. 2 villas are still constructing, so dust and noise is what you get for extra.
The rooms will be good if they furnish fine. But today, they are really dirty. An army of tiny little ants around the mini bar area, a family of crockets around the bed area, 2 small lizards in the bathroom, long hairs on the living table, some sticky juice or drinks on the table, thick dust on the TV, cements and sand on the floor, hand finger prints and greasy staff on all mirrors (they have 3 big mirrors). I had a room on the 2nd floor facing the back side of the hotel which has no views, only a big water pump, dry fields, a number of construction workers of the hotel sitting all day under the shade of the pump building, looks sharply to you when you open the curtains or go out to the balcony. The room only have thick curtains, no lace curtains. So if you want day light, you will be stared by the rude eyes of the workers. Otherwise stay dark all day. The doors of the balcony cant be closed, so I worried about someone climbing to my room at night because there is no fence at the hotel compound, and very easy to climb. The surrounding is absolutely black at night so if you are alone, you should think about it. If you want to stay in this rubbish place, just ask for the rooms facing the pool. Your room door only has a key, no locks no chain or card key. The pool shuts down at 7:30pm, so if you want to take a dip after a hot day at the city or historical park, come back early before it is closed.
The location is very bad, middle of nowhere. Sukhothai is a small town with limited shops and eateries that finishes around 9pm, so every time you go out it takes time, 15minutes to town and 15 minutes to historical park and 10minutes to the old city bus station. I don’t care about time, but the thing is there is no taxi or tuktuks around. If you are lucky, the hotel will drive you to town by signing a payment of 120baths. If you come back from town, its not that hard for a taxi or tuktuk, with the same 120b. It is very expensive (3 or 4 times) than Bangkok or Chiangmai. I tried to bargain, but I lost, because it is a programmed fixed price for outsiders. But it is not easy to make a day trip to Sukhothai, so if you want to go, stay in the town. Do not stay at SUKHOTHAI TREASURE RESORT AND SPA.
I was heading to Mae sot (a little town to Burma border) so I didn’t want to wait at the hot bus station, so calculating the best, I checked out 30minutes before my bus departure(10minutes to bus station and 20spare). I was very happy to pay the 120b for the ride, BUT do you know what? They took me out of the hotel with a golf cart, dropped me on the highway and showing signs that I must take a bus or taxi by my self. The driver says no English. So at last, I will not never ever stay in this crazy hotel if it is even free of charge or they swear for good quality service. Today is 25th April 2010, the service may change or not at the time you want to try, but think 10times and do believe me.
