Building site next to an all night fishing port with noisy boats

We had the misfortune of booking a 3 week stay at Koh Samui staying at the Samui Boat Lagoon and Samui Boat Lagoon Villas over Christmas and New Year 2010 / 2011.

The best bit is leaving, which we did, quite quickly after arriving. It took 3 days until we managed to secure another property for our 3 weeks holiday.

On arriving at Samui Airport we should have been picked up by Samui Boat Lagoon, however, they did not arrive. We had to arrange and pay for our own taxi which they would not reimburse us for or did they offer an apology.

When arrived we were astounded to find Samui Boat Lagoon was still a building site with only a few of the advertised villas completed. The resort swimming Pool which is on their website was a mess of floating rubbish and more like a dirty pond than a pool. The whole place was a building site with rusty nails protruding on wooden pathway which you use to access the harbour and beach. The noise is constant from 8am until 11pm every day including Sundays the villas and guest facilities which are advertised on their own website are still being built.

Immediately we raised our displeasure with the hotel owner John and Manager Carlo as well as with Nina from Horizon homes and we were put in one of their Samui boat lagoon Villas on the beachfront for 3 nights only whilst we tried to sort out alternative accommodation, at this stage we were told that we could have our money back if we could organise somewhere else to stay. Although John felt that this was a gesture on Samui Boat Lagoons part there really was no alternative and we were unable to enjoy those first 3 days of our holiday as it was spent on the internet, phone and travelling around Samui by taxi to try and find somewhere else to stay, all of which was at our own additional cost and something we hadn’t budgeted for.

The beachfront Samui Boat Lagoon villa he put us into is also on the same complex so also suffered not only from the noise from the building work, but also by the noise from the dirty sunset pier, this is approximately 20 metres from the villa and is from which all the fishing boats come and go at day and night. The Villas also has a fantastic view of the regular arrival and departure of the airplanes onto the Island, the planes are so loud and come in very low which combined with all the other noise from the building work, fishing and tourist boats Samui Boat Lagoon does not offer a quiet or relaxing holiday destination.

Samui Boat Lagoon Villa is also located at the top of the island very near the airport and has fantastic views and sounds of the regular arrival and departure of the airplanes onto the Island.

Combined with the other noise from the building work, fishing and tourist boats Samui Boat Lagoon does not offer a quiet or relaxing holiday.
